@Anita95_original

@@dandovueltas1 You need something, glass or plastic, that spreads the light. If you try to just illuminate it from the sides it will not be uniform and the middle will get no light. To spread the light you need thickness and a conduit to lead the light into the middle of the display and leak light down into the reflective display. No matter how you try to do this it will require a thickness and THIS will separate your pen and the visual surface you are "writing" on. For me, this has nothing to do with price or "2020". This is one of many design decisions the Remarkable have done that some do not like but will give a better writing experience. Illuminate the room. Beyond that, it would also have been great to take outdoors in the fresh air and natural light and still be able to get some revision done. There is some overlap, but the unique capabilities I listed is enough to set it apart - it'd only have to make me slightly more efficient, or slightly more focused, or save me a small amount of time, or reduce my stress by a small amount, to be worth it.

So it's a very good b/w paper notebook substitute, poor e-reader... and that's pretty much it as far as functions go. I am all for e-ink, but they will have to push WAY more features into it. Right now it just looks like a sketching toy.

Just received my Remarkable 2. It can nothing compared to Onenote. you only use this because it is cool, and good to read on. not because you wanna be productive. and if you jsut wanna read good. jsut buy a big amazon kindle. it cost 80% less. lookingforward to see if Remarkable 3 has a chance in the game

Can anyone explain why this would be better than a tablet like a surface tablet or iPad? Not judging because I think it looks good - just not sure what the main differences are for $300-$400

This is the one trick pony among one trick ponies, with just the low latency going for it. No color, no backlight, lackluster reader support, no android app flexiblity in a new device in 2020. Why don't just grab a paper like screen protector, stick it on a Boox Note 2 and call it a day?

this just needs to be ebook friendly and then its perfect. I need an ebook to read grad/undergrad level books and I need to write notes on them. Why is that so hard.

@@Artonox Best in what? Other than the sleek look, I don't find this device that special imho. Edit: Still the supernote devices look nicer to me, but that's subjective.

The weave folio cover gets dirty easily but leather is expensive, Wish the text conversion wasn't just in the cloud - perhaps download language specific would make software smaller size

This product seems tailor-made for classroom use...with the advancement and proliferation of technology in our society, more and more grade school classrooms are switching to laptops or tablets. Of course this is a net positive for limiting the use of natural resources, but one downside to this change would be the decline in students' handwriting skills. Additionally, since the introduction of common core standards back in 2010 schools are no longer required to teach cursive handwriting, and only about two dozen states have passed legislation to reintroduce the style of handwriting used by the Founding Fathers to write the Constitution & the Declaration of Independence.(Imagine an entire generation of American citizens who were unable to read the Constitution...) I would love to see the company who makes these tablets land a contract with the federal government to supply these tablets to classrooms across the country.

I kinda don’t get it. For its price you could get an IPad and slap a Paper-Like screen protector on it and you basically get this with much, much more functionality

In the UK they sell the marker for £49. It is basically a piece of plastic with a plastic tip. Want to upgrade to one with an eraser (that would be a small piece of plastic glued on top)? That would be an extra £50. Those prizes are so much off the top that it is an insult. By all means charge extra for a great design but do not treat your customers as if they were idiots.

For $400 I’d rather go with an iPad. You can get a new iPad for $329 and an Apple Pencil for $99 for a total of $428.

I don't understand how this is $400. I could see $200, even $250. But $400 is the sole reason I am not buying one just yet.

my English is not good. I have been using ereader for more than 10 years, and when they put internal light on the readers it was a step forward. it is unthinkable that some ereader does not have internal light. but... reMarkable does not come with a backlight. This means you need light in the room to read or use it, just like you would with paper.

i have mine with the plus marker and i have the issue, that the their a lag for example if i right a date 06.11.2020, then almost always from writting the year, the remarkable can not follow and write it a second later, any other has this problem, i also tried with the staedler, same thing, so i thing it is the device or the software and not the stylus, crazy for an expensive piece od paper . . .Someone else has this issue'?

I dont see a function to actually save the notes you have taken, is that possible ? Secondly is there a way to catagorize your notes for example math, science, chemistry ? Like catagories in which u can put ur notes ???

I don't get it. There's plenty of android tablets that do all of this and more for the same price and less. And they do it in color. This feels like going backwards and paying more for it. What am I missing?

I have to say I am extremely pissed off by the basic folio! Would have been too much to ask for a basic cover that it can COVER the whole screen surface? This way they force us to buy the book folio which is really cool but at this point is useless to have the basic folio option and get scratches all over the screen

No, that's a limitation on current e-ink display technology. There are a few early devices that support limited colours available, so perhaps we might see that in the ReMarkable 3.

The screen looks rather slow. Quite overpriced for what it is, and no access to the firmware, at least with some of the chinese tablets you can actually replace it, bad as the situation is with hardware configuration consistency.
