As the world celebrated the world health day, access to basic health services and sanitation facilities remain a major challenge in Kenya, especially among the majority poor. The day has been marked since 1948 to galvanize a global campaign on the health challenges facing humanity. But, here in Kenya, one of the challenges that persists is access to toilets, with almost 50 percent of the population lacking them. Violet Otindo visited Remba, an island on lake victoria which lacks this basic amenity.
