Even though Petey is, “evil”, “wicked”, or even “maniacal”, you could also see how nice lil’ Petey is. And, lil’ Petey is a clone of Petey, meaning that, if Petey’s family trauma (like his dad) didn’t happen, Petey would’ve been much more kind.

I liked Petey when he was a villain, but I liked him more when he started to gradually change into a hero and we learn more about his past and how tragic his childhood was. It just made me feel sorry for Petey and I'm glad he's now with the heroes. Edit: I think I also noticed that Dav Pilkey sorta made a reference to the Studio Ghibli movie My Neighbor Totoro with the young Petey and his mom at the bus stop in the rain.
