Take a trip down memory lane to RAF Blakehill, a disused WW2 airfield. It opened in 1943 and closed in 1997. Now deserted, it has been taken over by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and is the largest lowland hay meadow restoration project in the UK.
During the war, it was somewhat different housing almost 3000 people, twice as much as the local town of Cricklade at the time. The Dakota and Horsa Gliders were stationed here and frequently took the skies every 5 minutes.
