A firefighter/paramedic for 16 years, Brian K. Silveria was hired in 1994 and started his career at Station 20. He was passionate about working in the fire service and he loved serving his community.
Brian was a dedicated husband and proud father of two daughters. Baseball, fishing and cycling were his favorite hobbies.
An only child, Brian was born in Vallejo, but grew up in Benicia, CA. In 1985, he graduated from Benicia High School. Shortly after, he started Paramedic School at Stanford University. He also earned a degree in Sociology from San Diego State University.
On February 17, 2010, Brian died by suicide. He was 42-years old.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

The Sacramento Fire Department continues its commitment to helping and supporting all members. The Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) is dedicated to serving SFD members and it continues to grow and evolve. Currently, the Sacramento Fire’s BHU has several licensed therapists and more than 60 peer-support members who are highly trained and always ready to help others. Most recently, the Behavioral Health Unit added two peer support canines.
