The guy that crashed into the Simmons vehicle was 3 times over the limit. I hate to say it but I don’t feel the guy was just a “regular” guy that made a mistake. I’m having trouble believing he hadn’t driven drunk many times before, he just got lucky he didn’t kill someone, and possibly didn’t even get caught by police, until that day in 2021. I’ll never call what he did a “mistake”. Unfortunately for him, it took his life, too. He wasn’t even from Louisiana, where it happened. He drove from Dallas Georgia, to that stretch of highway where he killed those siblings, a highway I’ve driven many times before since I’m from south Louisiana where the Simmons are also from.

@@Everton-Valley-2005 Just yesterday I found out information I didn’t have before that you may already know by now. It seems the drunk driver had stopped at a roadside rest area, and when exiting, that’s when he turned the wrong way on the highway. I can’t understand why he only had his underwear on and no one noticed, or said anything, or called police, but it’s possible he stayed in his car, or no one else was at the rest area. That still doesn’t fill in all the blanks, but it kind of gives me a clearer picture of what probably happened.

@@marleenbrown1647 How do you know she didn’t try to turn the wheel but he was coming too fast to get out of the way in time? Or maybe she swerved but he did too and it wasn’t enough to avoid getting hit head on. Katie said it had been foggy that night. That must have been a factor. But when all is said and done the ONLY one to blame was the drunk driver, and no one else!!

The mom’s blanks stare… the poor woman. I remember hearing the news that my grandfather was in an accident. He was a crush truck driver. A transport truck hit his crash truck on the side he was on as he was getting out. His spleen had to be removed and he no longer works. We are so grateful he’s alive. I still can’t get over the shock from that and it happened in July. I can’t even begin to imagine losing 3 younger siblings all at once… I’m so proud of the family for speaking up about their situation. The strength that takes to do that everyday is unimaginable.

Drunk driver was age 57. Likely had 40 years of heavy drinking under his belt. Take away licence of alcoholics. How do we get teens to drink water, not to be interested in even trying one sip of alcohol - like President Trump.

@@elizabethmonsell1847 That’s true, Trump was so upset by his brother’s death from alcoholism that he vowed to never drink, take drugs, or smoke cigarettes. And he kept his word. He’s never done any of that stuff. My cousin was only in her early 40’s when she died from a disease that was alcohol related. By the age of 30 she was already an alcoholic. I don’t smoke, drink or take drugs, and never have. All I’ve ever seen are negative consequences of all those things.
