This is an overview of the Tulane Katrina story, as told by the Tulane administrators and staff who sheltered on campus during Hurricane Katrina and who helped steer the university through the aftermath.
When classes were canceled during the Fall 2005, Tulane not only had to rebuild its campuses (100% of buildings were damaged, totaling $650 million) in the middle of a ravaged city, but had to rethink the structure of the university, track down a scattered student population, and convince a nation that Tulane and New Orleans were worth fighting for. The decisions to downsize the university through the Renewal Plan and to integrate mandatory public service into the core curriculum forever changed the culture of Tulane University.
Featuring Scott Cowen, Yvette Jones, Tony Lorino, Juan Perez, Anne Banos, Lance Query, Earl Retif.
