Milstein was truly unique. Just incredible technical facility and moving the music forward. A very good argument can be made that he was the greatest.

Love the insights to this piece, I"m not a musician, no formal training, but love all kinds of music. have always leaned towards the classics. And the one instrument that always got my attention was the violin. pardon the pun but it always pulled on my heart strings. when I listened to any piece, it was the one instrument that I listened for to throw myself into the piece. Now near an Octogenarian I still am drawn to it in many ways. thank you for this inside look at what these musicians try to achieve in their music. ECF

Loved that understated, "he couldn't get people to do things." I started laughing when he said that about Milstein. Great stuff.

Milstein was arguably more talented than Heifetz. Heifetz had a few self-admitted weaknesses. Milstein just had none. Heifetz somehow never managed to make violin playing look easy. Milstein made it look like it was as easy as snapping two fingers together! LOL!

I don't think anyone has, or ever will be more talented than Jascha Heifetz. Above all, was his absolute uniqueness, he was one of a kind. Surely that's the most important gift of all. Jascha Heifetz stands on his own unique pedestal. 😊.

G@@vlad9076Why do you say, that I made a silly comment. I'm not saying anything against Milstein, he was a great player. But, the Heifetz sound, for me, was unique, and that's what really counts. Try and be a bit more constructive, it makes for a more positive conversation.
