Marc, what a touching tribute to Carol. She was a stalwart and champion of Rod and his work. So glad you gave her a limelight.

Outstanding commentary, Marc! I love your TZ Companion and I buy anything I can find related to the show. I still consider The Twilight Zone to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest television shows of all time. R.I.P. to Carol Serling.

Twilight Zone consistently had quality writing most every episode. Carol of course had a hand in Rod’s success. The support of a family is everything. Carol can now be with Rod again. R.I.P Carol

Thoroughly enjoyable. Your pilgrimage from age 22 proves that passion and belief in one's goal trumps any prior experience, education, or obstacle. God bless the Serling family.

Thank you for this reminiscence. Sorry that Carol Serling is now gone. She outlived him by 45 years, which is a long time; I'm sad she didn't remarry and go on with her life in some sense, while still taking care of Rod's legacy; I know this can seem like sacrilege, but 45 years is a long time to be alone. I keep wondering what Rod Serling would have thought of events now, had he lived. Maybe you've seen the reminiscence of the nurse who took care of Rod in the hospital that last time; she remarked on how sweet and kind he was. The thing that strikes me most about Rod, whom I never met (although of course I saw some Twilight Zone episodes as a teenager), is that he was a man who valued decency, honesty and modesty as much as he did.. He comes across as gutsy, down to earth, but always in good taste and with a fine sense of humor. I never knew any of these things about Rod, remembering him only as the man who introduced The Twilight Zone; only recently, when I came across some interview videos of him, did I realize what an admirable person he was. I won't give him a halo, which he would not have accepted anyway, judging from what I've seen; but he tried to be a decent human being even though he sought fame; he also sought excellence and moral principles in writing. I'm a writer myself, and I've gotten inspiration from Rod.
