Kidman's father (Antony) was a regionally-renowned psychologist and bio-scientist -- basically the direct opposite + nemesis of Scientology as enumerated by Cruise -- Kidman Sr. and the associated Kidman familial culture made Nicole pretty anti-Xenu, as seen by her in-the-church, out-of-the-church, reluctantly-back-in-the-church flip flopping and subsequent mother-kids estrangement. Dad died in 2014; the divorce happened in 2001. She's careful with her public remarks, but the term 'cult' doesn't ever seem very far from her lips. Certainly plausible that sexy-film and sexy-religious-confessions might have done some cumulative damage, assuming it wasn't just the toll of constant absenteeism and unrelenting work-schedules.

I may not subscribe to Tom Cruise beliefs, or even agree with many of them. And yeah, from outside looking in (especially after watching Going Clear, though it's always been very apparent) he does seem what some would call 'nuts'. But there is just SOMETHING about him that I am fascinated by. He's acted in four of my very favorite films (Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut, Vanilla Sky, and even Interview With The Vampire) and he gave great performances in all four. I just love him as an actor, and outside of his talent, there's another aspect about him that I can't get enough of, but I couldn't tell you what it is. I don't even know myself.

EWS is as underrated now as it was hyped when it came out. It is a masterpiece of cinematic art. The set design, the cinematography, the use of music, the actors' performances are as good as they get. EWS is awe-inspiring and enigmatic as the 2001 monolith and as chillingly beautiful to watch as Barry Lyndon. And it is really a dreamlike experience that stays with the viewer 'forever and ever' to aptly quote from another SK masterwork.

Mr. Cruise's religious beliefs are HIS business. But the man he projects, the films he's made, the way he treats his fans? He stands alone. The last movie star.

5:50 that was the moment Kubrick knew, as soon as he moves on to the next project, he would McDowell Cruise.

Doesnt seem fake to me. Real sad people pause to collect themselves. Not cry and yell and push through it. Sadness is giving yourself a moment here and there to collect yourself because in real life no one wants to fall apart in front of people they dont give a fuck about. Its not a show. Im no tom cruise apologist, because hes def fucking looney tunes, but this was genuine. I understand the skepticism, but dont see it here.

I'm not being sheep-like, I'm simply crditing Cruise for his acting ability, which is particular evident in Magnolia
