I'm pretty sure that these heads are designed such that you don't require any additional dampening inside the bass drum.

They are, however they don’t usually have the amount of dampening that I require! That being said, I probably should’ve done a test with no additional dampening… something to remember for next time! ☺️

@@OwenAlec Yeah I thought it was funny when you pointed out that it came with the patch but you weren't going to use it because you wanted us to hear what it really sounded like, but then proceeded to add a pillow inside of the drum 🤔

We all know whose homework they copied… BUT, for those who want to stay brand exclusive it’s finally here lol. Heads like these are perfect for live shows at small places cause it gives you a great sound without mixing/micing up a kit. I’m pretty sure they tried doing this with the Powersonic but the Powersonic isn’t that great so they just pulled the trigger on making these. I’m curious to know what the coated emperor smt would be like compared to this though.

You'd be surprised at how unreliable Evans heads are. They barely last me even one practice while Remo lasts me for months of extensive gigging and for years of extensive practices. I'm glad Remo came up with this version, as I am regular user of their dampening ring with a foam that goes onto the drum shell right before you put the drum head on it.

I love my Evans heads on toms but could never get my Emad/Gmad to play nice. I recently got the emperor SMT to replace my Powerstroke Pro and I love it.

@@seanguaraldi2787 I would agree except once I tried the EMAD 2 and the EMAD Onyx, I would admit they’re easier to work with.
