Back in the 1980's when I worked for American Borate Company at their Billie Mine in Death Valley , California , we were mining Colemanite in a large Room & Pillar operation 1200 feet beneath the Furnace Creek Wash . We cut the Upper and Lower Drifts with large Voest - Alpine Continuous Miners and then Drilled & Blasted the floors out between them . In order to safely remove the Ore from the Stope , we modified two Wagner ST-5B Scoop-Trams (LHD's) and made them Remote Control operated . We did all of the Electronics and Conversion at the Mine site . --- < Doc , Retired , Union Certified Top Millwright / Senior Underground Mine Maintenance Mechanic ; Certified Welder-Fabricator ; Heavy Equipment Operator ; Top Miner ; Licensed Blaster ; Firefighter ; Search and Rescue Technician ; and the ONLY Medical Doctor / Certified Coroner working Underground . > .

@J W -- It's not hard on the Transmissions as most LHD's have a Hydrostatic Transmission .

@@undergroundminer5494 Could always tie the hose to the bucket of the mucker and wet down that way...

Can clearly see the operator is wearing a fully enclosed respirator system. If it was easy to wet the muck im sure they would. Mines have alot of money and research, at least where i am.
