He wrapped the line around the hook that was in the skin ... pushed in on the hook to get the barb away from the skin and pulled it out.
@petert3355
5 жыл бұрын
The trick to this is that the line pulling the hook out and the finger holding the eye of the hook firmly against the skin and upright results in the pull line acting in the outer part of the hook circle. This means that the pressure of the flesh against the hook is all on the "outside" of the hook and the barb is free. NOTE: I use some 80lb braid tied to a wooden toggle for this, It just stays in the bag. Have to use it about once a month I guess.

Careful with this painless trick if the hook is in thick skin like under foot or so. The quick painless jank can quickly become a very painful jank but the hook hangs on and wont come loose.

Every fisherman needs to know this method because it works great. For those of you who say to push it the rest of the way through and cut the barb off you might as well leave it in for a decoration! This is the least painful and less damaging way to remove an imbedded hook. Don't forget to wrap the pulling string around the hook a couple times otherwise the hook will go flinging off to who knows where!
@letgomyleghoe582

When you’re deeply hooked with a big ass hook and barb it’s best to just push it through, this method works great with smaller hook but not so much bigger ones.

@Kreator SATAN That was totally unnecessary!!! It's called love, for your information, the real thing.They have been married for around 55 years. That is a 'real' woman Jimmy has there. Chris has birthed and mothered Jimmy's children and they have their own families now. Jimmy has been a professional fisherman since 1968 and she has been by his side and loved and supported him through it all. She is a great fisherman in her own right, a six-time Bass'n Gal Angler of the Year and a member of the National Fishing Hall of Fame, and loves to fish with her man. She has loved her husband all these years, as he has her. I think she looks great for a woman who is well into her 70's. Let's wait and see what you look like when you're 75. I'd say you'll be doing well to look that good. Can you say you've matched her accomplishments? Let's see if you have a wife stick with you for that many years. With your attitude, I seriously doubt it unless there is a major change of attitude. I hope you can grow up and maybe find out what true love is in your lifetime. It is hard to find. I can only hope and pray you aren't serious about your Google moniker.

Try getting a fishing hook out of an eyelid. That’s exactly what I had on my hands when fishing with my buddies. One of them cast and the hook hit the guy behind him, bounced off his cheek and snagged his eyelid. Didn’t harm his eye at all. But the ER removed it. I am just glad he didn’t actually cast. The guy who got snagged called out and grabbed the line. Probably would have ripped his lid apart

Well Damn... The few times this has happened I would end up pushing the hook barb through and snipping it with wire cutters then pulling it out. Kinda thought of it as a piercing never to adorn any jewellery when doing it. A much better method was learned watching this video. My brother who has never been great at fly fishing, yet will never give it up, will certainly benefit from this the 7th time he hooks himself in the back of the Damn head.

I was thinking, "He better be telling the truth or Chris is going to kill Jimmy!" 😀 There's a simple way to make sure you retrieve the hook. Just tie a separate length of the line on the hook and it will only go as far as the line allows.
