This is a very straightforward simple video that helps non-mechanical people save thousands of dollars. Thank you very much sir.
@22_floW

If someone is "non-mechanical people," I don't see them trying to do this on their own unless they're okay with the inherent risks. As a result, they'll still be beholden to whatever the shop or mechanic they use and their quotes (which usually go between $1,000 to as high as $3,500 for a job like this, depending on the respective shop and their standard operating procedures, their mechanics, and or whether every lifter needs replaced or more than that like the rockers and the stems, etc.). So, this video (as simple and useful as it is) is unlikely to save anyone money unless you're referring to the people who do their own mechanical work, but those people--at least, in my mind--ARE mechanical people. (Not trying to be "that guy" and split hairs here... It's just that too many people overlook the complexities involved in jobs like this and dismiss or overlook the problems that can happen beyond just the core things needing done. When you take off a valve cover, you're not just unbolting a few things. You're working around other parts that also have to be removed or disabled, and one small jerk in the wrong place can result in thousands of dollars-worth in additional repairs or parts if one isn't careful or seasoned enough to understand those nuances. This is outside the possibility of accidentally dropping things into a lifter bore, not using proper torque when reinstalling everything, or using gaskets correctly...) If I had a dime for every time even the seasoned mechanics did things wrong or took for granted specific standards that service manuals call for, my wealth would rival Elon Musk's.

Im going to leave a comment because I just did this to my 2.5L 1994 wrangler. I put new lifters, pushrods and rocker / assemblys. most of my lifters did not come all the way out with a magnet, they would come like 1/3 the way out then get caught. i reached in with a long pair of needle nose pliers and got the old lifters out once they were sitting out of the bore. It helped to have a friend hole the lifters up with a magnet then for me to grab them with needle nose. BTW my tick i had at idle seems to be STILL THERE. :( Maybe my oil pump is weak ? If it isnt oil pressure related im certain my tick is from a piston slap/ wrist pin knock. I used assembly lube on the bottom of the lifters and in every contact point of the valvetrain and used an engine break in oil and a proper 20 min 2000-2500 rpm break in procedure followed by another oil change. Guess it might really be true when jeep guys say don't worry about your engines tick . I might have been better off running it untill it blew and replaced it with a running 2.5 i found used. Atleast I know my lifters and valvetrain are solid now.

Hey everybody! You can use a piece of metal (rod shaped and long enough to reach the lifter), wrap a ton of copper wire around it and connect it to a car battery and make an electromagnet to reach the lifter. This way when you guide it back into place you can just disconnect it from the battery and it will release the lifter.

Luckily it has had less than a quarter mile on it since the lifter was heard. I just fear the crankshaft has been scratched by the failing bearing. Turns out, I technically can replace the bearing through the oil pan, but if the shaft is scratched... we all know. lol I do not believe the previous owner was honest.
