This is an easy modfication that anyone can do! If you already have the nozzle/head removed and the screen removed, skip to 02:26 to see where to grab the flow restrictor. Thanks for watching! : )

Thank you so much!!! For some reason, everyone else only talks about cleaning the screen and not about removing the flow restrictors! Flow restrictors are a massive annoyance when you have a well. Insane that the govt tries to regulate absolutely everything right down to our own water pressure. I can only imagine what this annoying part adds to the costs of faucets.

Thank you sooooo much for your video!!! First of all, let me say that it is THE perfect instructional video! It was well thought out and easy to follow. Thank you for your lay out and by informing us of everything we will need and why. All of your tips and explanations were very helpful and gave me confidence to get this job done. And I am happy to say that I was able to do it in less than 5 minutes!😃 This is why I am so excited to see this video: I purchased and paid a plumber to install a new Moen faucet that is beautiful, except once installed, I noticed that the water flow was severely reduced from the previous faucet! I was devastated and had I known I would have to live with that, I would have kept my old one. I've been dealing with this beautiful low flow faucet for over 2 years now! And hating it! I am so happy that I happened to come across your video while looking for instruction on removal of flow restrictor for my shower head. Until now, I thought the water flow in my kitchen was reduced, because the plumber had to change out the piping size from my old 1970 original due to some new strict Californian law in addition to the federal law for water conservation. So when I watched your video, I immediately ran downstairs and tried it and IT WORKED!!!!😆🎉🤗 YOU ROCK!!!!!! 🤩

Thank you for the great detail! This was super easy with your instructions and totally fixed our problem of not getting consistent hot water from our tankless with this exact Moen faucet. With the increased flow, we get hot water in under 90sec every time and it probably saves water from endlessly running it to try and get hot water.

You can drill out the blue water restrictors on the newer shower spray heads. The companies are getting trickier with the water restrictors: They are practically cemented in now. A sharp drill bit and taking your time will get the job done and get the water flowing! :)
@Katy-Did

Great video! I did this technique to my shower heads a few years ago. Unfortunately, the companies are getting smarter about those water restrictors. A few years ago, you could just pull them out (like this video), last year when I replace two shower heads...those water restrictors were not removable! I had to drill them out! A little more effort, but WELL worth it for a nice strong spray for showers. Thanks for the video!

NICE video. Clear, good pacing, good views - especially the freeze-frames to show important parts. A flow restrictor is nice for saving water, but in a kitchen sink, it is an abomination. In a kitchen sink, you need a lot of water, FAST, and a lot of pressure for cleaning. You can't soap, fill, rinse, or clean anything with the 1.5gpm rate that these devices are limited to from the factory. Having an automatic dishwasher doesn't matter. There are always things you need to wash and fill in the sink. The first thing I look for on any kitchen sinkset I put in my house is whether I can get that thing out of there without a hassle. If I can't, it's on to the next product.

Great video! Do you have another that shows how to remove/clean the aerator?
@L35inColorado

No - but I can tell you this: the little honeycomb parts of the aerator deteriorated on this wand, so I called Moen to see if they had a replacement part number that I could buy. They sent me a whole new wand, for free - we didn't even have to pay for shipping! So, if you're having an issue with the aerator, give them a call. The number for the warranty department is 1-800-289-6636. I hope that helps! : )

Why would they have a flow restricter on it anyways? Thanks for the video, I'll check what brand ours is!
@L35inColorado

My understanding is that the US government has required manufacturers to include flow restrictors in shower heads since the '90's, but consumers can remove them at their discretion. I'm not sure if there's a similar law regarding faucets, but many faucets have them. The flow restrictors have their purpose in saving water, and some people like them - but some people don't like them and prefer to regulate water themselves using the handle valve (that's what I prefer). This faucet in particular is rather lack-luster on the sprayer with the flow restrictor installed: it works much better without the restrictor! Thanks for watching : )

Can you please make a video for changing all fluids and one on a tune up for 97 Toyota Rav4?
@L35inColorado
2 жыл бұрын
Maybe some day, but I don't have those jobs lined up right now, and I have my hands full right now! My Rav4 radiator replacement video shows a partial coolant drain and refill - the most important part of that job is bleeding the coolant system, which is shown at the end of that video. kzitem.info/news/bejne/umiD32SFm4WXlno I have an complete oil change video for the Rav4: kzitem.info/news/bejne/05qDy2enj5ygmn4 As far as the tune-up: if you're replacing the spark plugs, I show how to do that in my Rav4 timing belt video (that's a long video - check the timestamps in the Pinned Comment to see the removal and later the replacement): kzitem.info/news/bejne/tZiF2Gudr6OEpJg I show throttle body and EGR system cleaning in videos on those parts, too (check the Rav4 playlist on the channel): kzitem.info/news/bejne/sGmvyGmIgp6ig4I kzitem.info/news/bejne/0Zqm1J9on2mYoZg Also, be sure to check out Lab Coat Paul's Rav4 playlist, because he has a TON of great Rav4 videos: kzitem.infoplaylists I hope that helps!

Fun Fact: to movement to "lo flo" to save water has a flip side: no flow in areas with low water pressure already. Where I am we have less than 30 lb. pressure, whereas I was in a city with 105 pressure (damages plumbing) as the pipes for delivery needed to be upgraded due to massive build projects but the pipes were not upgraded. Moen has kits that now as as low as 1.5 gpm as California is going to be 1.8, down from 2.0 and most places are 2.2. So being ahead of the curve it would be nice if retail kept up and let us know what's going on!! I have THREE clients in the same building this week complaining about their new install, and now I know what the issue is! (No, I didnt install).

Haha - oh man, I wouldn't be surprised if some day we have to deal with that! Yes, I should have done the "before and after" to show the difference in the flow, but I didn't think of it at that time. When you do this modification, you'll certainly be able to tell, though - especially if you're on a well or have compromised flow in the first place. Thanks for watching! : )

Unless you're washing all of your dishes by hand and really needing the higher pressure, all this does is help you waste water. Many people think they have a water pressure issue when they really have a clogged screen issue... Clean that first part and try again instead of removing the flow restrictor.
@northjersey9848

Wasting water is a concept that doesn't apply to many of us. We pump water out of the earth and return practically all of it to the earth, where it is treated and returned to the aquifer. Minimal quantities of domestic water evaporate and return to the atmosphere. That water precipitates out of the atmosphere and returns to the surface. I'm not sure better water flow from a kitchen faucet results in a significant increase in water usage. When filling vessels, the flow rate is unlikely to have much impact on water consumption. Presumably, if you use a faucet to fill a pot or a glass, you'd use the same volume of water whether your faucet has an anemic stream or strong flow. When washing, I would expect that weak flow results in either extended wash time or poor hygiene (when the washer abbreviates the process out of impatience). Even if the process took exactly the same time, the additional water usage is insignificant. If I were living in a desert where the water cycle can't keep up with potable water demands, I would move somewhere habitable. Who wants to live like he's on Dune?
