Reading up on the subject of Threadlocked Nut Removal I saw your video and I also saw one about using heat. My grass was growing fast so I opted for the heat version. After spending 20 bucks on a torch and fuel that method did not work for me. So I picked up a quart of acetone and rigged up a way to keep the nut wet with it for a couple hours. I have a Heritage Rough Rider and one of my dad's friend happens to have the most experience with handling firearms so I took to him to ask for assistance in applying Loctite to the little screws the hold together my handgun. However, he is growing advance in age and he didn't have his glasses so he applied the Loctite to the spring which houses the locking mechanism which locks the rod which holds the cylinder in place because it looked like an "oddly loose screw ya got here." I want to purchase another cylinder but I cannot until the Loctite is removed somehow and I don't want to pay my local gunsmith $60 to fix it when I could potentially remedy the spring in question myself. perchloroethylene is a chlorinated solvent used in a variety of processes as a solvent and degreaser. PCE is a halogenated organic compound composed of 2 atoms of carbon and 4 atoms of chlorine (two chlorine atoms linked to each carbon)
@akzoc

Perchloroethylene is an AWESOME solvent for oil, grease, etc. It is a 2-carbon chain ("ethyl"), with a double bond between the carbons ("ene" means double bond). Perchoro means every binding site on the carbon chain has a chlorine. "Per" means "completely" in chemistry speak. So every binding site on the carbons has a chlorine. Hence, it has 4 chlorines. Historically it was (is ?), used as dry cleaning solvent. It evaporates quickly, leaving no residue. It is very heavy. Buy the container that weighs the most per volume to get the highest concentration "perc."

Non-chlorinated brake cleaner doesn't work. I already had some CRC non-chlorinated, in the green can, so sprayed a good amount on threads from both ends about 12 times over a three hour stretch. The part is still solid. So I'll try the chlorinated tomorrow. And people should wear safety glasses, but not plastic reading glasses. Thanks Adrian, good to know how to avoid using heat. .......The auto parts store didn't have any chlorinated, and said it's being phased out of production. So online they found KANO Aerokroil in an orange spray can. Expensive at $22. I'm not sure if it worked. I applied it 6 times, letting it soak different lengths of time from many hours to one hour. 4 times, while trying to turn the threaded part, I applied about 120° F from a heat gun on low. It finally came loose for some turning distance, so I applied maybe 160° F and the part turned off fairly easy. The Areokroil night be the reason the red Locktite turned to a brittle plastic that was easy to remove. Again, I'm not sure if the heat neutralized the Locktite or the Areokroil or both.

Will this work on white locktite? It's worse than red and was used on the tiny t8 torx screws on the handle of a pocket knife.

I'm not too sure to be honest. I've never encountered that stuff. Could be worth a try though!

It should also work but blue is meant to be removed without any heat or chemical

Pls do you know which one is better for inner tie rod: Loctite 271 or 272? In one film on utube, he said 272, but on the 271 it is said for rods up to 3/4 in in D. That is a diameter on the car in utube film and on my car. On 272 it is said up to 1-1/2". I would appreciate any opinion on this matter.

Sorry I'm not sure what would be best suited. Best to look it up on the manufacturer's website

@@AdrianMorse42069 Thank you. I tried to contact them, CS said "I'm not a mechanic", advised to ask at dealership, but I doubt they would give that type of advices. Fortunately there is utube. I think I'll go with 271, something in between.

@@AdrianMorse42069 No issues, had to heat the muzzle devise first then use the cleaner to clean the threads.

How long to sit because it looks like it dries fast too

Try and get a good puddle and it should stay wet for a while. The longer you can let it sit the better. Maybe have to reapply a few times.

Cool thanks. My tripod screw that's embedded in my iPhone case for the tripod is loose thread now (still has bite). What threadlock brand and model could I use to repair a loose thread? Thank you. God bless.
