just start watching you video and you are doing well so far please don't cut the parts car at all because it is in great shape also you are doing so well with the body work on the other car. also you can restore the parts car by just changing the floor pans and you can really make a profit on that after the restoration of the parts car complete

Hey thanks for watching and commenting! Trust me, I hear you. I've thought about this a lot and there were a lot of factors to consider. It may look good on the outside, but it would need way more than just floor pans. I would have to basically do another complete restoration just to make it running again. I would have to replace all the parts I'm planning on taking off and putting on the other bug. Plus, the amount of money it would take to get it to that point is essentially the same as if I just bought another one thats already running. It simply wouldn't be worth the money or time I would have to sink into it. The cost of an engine alone, I mean... Since I live in MN, that complicates things even more. First, in my current situation I don't have heat or electricity in my garage. That pretty much limits my ability to do any work on it from Nov-Apr. Time is the most valuable thing for me. Next, any car this old that has spent its life here, unrestored and unkept has mostly rusted into the earth by now. People know this, and don't even want to take the risk of hidden rust in places they cant see when they buy something like this. I know I wouldn't. There is a local guy on Craigslist right now who is trying to sell a '58 in better condition, mostly complete, for $1200 and it's been for sale for months. Maybe even a year now. Another thing is that even with my plan to dismantle and sell parts separately, cut up others to recycle, I still might not be able to get rid of it all even for FREE. Part of the reason for that is that the VW culture simply isn't that strong in the upper midwest. Far fewer people are interested in owning, restoring, driving them than southern states. Even out of the people who are, they don't prefer to buy cars and parts that have spent their whole lives up here. People prefer to pay more for nicer condition used parts than cheaper parts that require lots of time to patch/weld/grind. Hope that helps explain this a bit. Thanks for the comment. Take care!
