I think you made the perfect culvert-unclogging video! Great camera work, especially with having a second camera ready for unclogging moments on the other side... and there's something about having no commentary that made it a more chill, natural event. I'd use this same formula for future videos!

See?! This is what I wish Post 10 would do. I have suggested many times having a second camera set up at the drain output so we can watch the rush of water suddenly come pouring out of the pipes as the clog is cleared. Even if he had to do a "split screen" set up. It's just as rewarding seeing the formerly dry pipe suddenly gushing with water as it is to watch the water suddenly be freed up! Nice! 👍🏻

Just a thought about that second culvert and some comments about it not being as cleared as the other one. We can assume from the date of the video this was shot in midsummer. Pretty much the whole northern hemisphere is much drier in summer than at other times of the year so flow in the creek would be minimum. It would make sense for 2nd culvert to be slightly higher and thus act as a relief overflow in wetter seasons. Looks to me like it was designed to be that way.

@@arzemagic I very much do say so. To give you an idea why, I waded the Maurepas swamps in south Louisiana every day for 2weeks during January 1988 with no waders, just tennis shoes in normal winter clothing. Busted ice most near every day. It's just water. As far as the rake goes, well, if that's what you want to use, have at it. But those of us who have actually done such things as opening culverts, clearing clogs and manually cutting beaver dams will laugh while you struggle. I actually use tools that I built, because the ideal tool for some jobs is not always commercially available.

The friendly advice (which is helpful) is way less toxic than the replies, here. The channel does need cleared in front of the left culvert, the rain-fueled stream isn’t likely to dig out that much gravel and dirt, when the stream channel is being bypassed. A simple trench through it would let the water erode it back, but he made a good bypass that’s stopping the left from getting its own pressure. Being critical is more what you two did, and he didn’t even mention post 10, so the extreme toxicity from Vator was extremely uncalled for.

Post10 probably loves to see the movement he is causing/has caused, there is no need to pile up on random small channels and call them names or copycats just because they are doing something similar to a bigger youtuber. It borders on incredible that not one person -- *not one* -- in the entire history of civilization ever cleared out a drain before Post 10 came along. What, people did clear drains in an earlier time? Then, one must ask oneself, just who is Post 10 ripping off and copying? Post 10 appears to be a really nice guy and I suspect he is proud of the others that are following his lead, not copying but *following* and are dealing with these potentially treacherous situations. I suspect, because Post 10 is a really nice guy, that he would be upset that so many of his _fans_ are nothing more than bullies, who just might be discouraging others from continuing to do the good work they are doing.

Awesome. As the first poster said, that beaver sticks proving its worth. However I think that it’s built as a slight angle to the flow coming down, and that’s why it’s kept one free, and naturally silting up the other side, though of course in flood the water would soon wash away those deposits, and leave both open again. Fantastic layered rock formations there, one thing that America and Canada has is so many beautiful waterfalls, even if they’re cut in half by a road and culvert!

@@TheBrushcutter nah, going to have to disagree here, the Culvert is much larger and a higher pronged rake would have done a better job. The three prong would be superior in a smaller Culvert that's maybe only 6 to 8 in pvc.
@TheBrushcutter
3 жыл бұрын
@@youtubesewers915 and you've opened how many culverts? When did you last deal with a beaver dam? From which creek did you last remove a huge pin oak tree? Disagree all you want. The size of the culvert actually has nearly nothing to do with which hand tool I would use. The material that the clog consists of is what would mandate that. For example, if the clog is strictly dirt at the end, a shovel, sharpened, of course, would be an excellent choice. If you were going after a combination of dirt and limbs with plenty of water backed up, I would definitely bring the single edged serrated hook that I built for exactly that. If I'm going after a treetop wash up in a creek, I'll start with a bic lighter and burn everything I can (which usually involves sawing some stuff to manageable sizes so it can be easily tossed on the fire) then use one of my winch systems to winch what is below water out onto the bank and burn it also. But one thing is certain, I have never carried a garden rake to use on any of them and wouldn't. Those are fine for the street grates post 10 unclogs but when it comes to real problems just nope. I guess you thought I was just another keyboard commenter. Nope again. Maybe the next time I deal with a tree top in our creek I'll film it with a camera, mounted on... the tripod that I built in 1991. 😁
