Prepping the truck for the LS1 swap. I need to remove all the old wiring that was used to make the TBI SBC run. I remove parts I no longer need for the automatic transmission, because I’ll also be swapping in a T56 also. The AC condenser was pretty beat up and should probably be replaced also, seemed like a decent time to do that as well. Clutch pedal and new cruise control module also installed. We're getting close.
My daily driver, a 1992 Chevy C1500 2wd long bed, GMT400, has a blown engine and needs to be swapped. I bought a 5.3L LS1. The block casting number is12587393 (L59) with 799 heads, steel block with aluminum heads. The engine had headers, the stock wiring harness that’s cut to pieces and the stock ECM. I also bought a T56 with a stage two clutch, whatever that means. I want to do this swap to make my truck back to my daily driver, but make the driving experience a little more fun. This video isn’t a ‘How to’ video, it’s a ‘how I did it’ video, it’s for entertainment purposes only. Attempt to do what I do at your own risk.
