As a person whose faith has undergone a lot of changes lately, I really appreciated your reaction. I think Ren found it impossible to relate to the God he learned about as a child after feeling completely betrayed throughout his many years of suffering, especially because he knew that his heart was full of love for his fellow man. As you are exposed to Ren's older music AND some of his newest songs, you will learn that he has always been aware and suffered heartbreak over our lack of love for each other and the planet, and he appealed to God for help many times and felt like he was cursed for some reason. Castles Made of Sand made me cry. I really hope he lands in a good place; I love him so much.

Interesting take on the video, what I have said on other reactions to this is that Ren's genius is making us realise the common ground we all have even if we have wildly differing religions, race, gender, culture or class and it just gets us all talking in a civil manner. He has a real knack for promoting constructive debate that doesn't leave us all wanting to kill each other, which I think a lot of areas of human life have become.

If you didn't participate, or watch the whole treasure hunt for Money Game 3, this kind of drops out of the blue. BAMM! Ren has said that while searching for reasons for his illness, he felt as though he became a "spiritual tourist". Ultimately, he landed in a sort of spirituality of humanity. 🤔 Ren believes in people. I have my doubts . . . 😼

Believing in people requires the same blind faith as it does believing in a higher power. The difference is the very real danger that humans are capable of. Im with you when it comes to having doubts but I am also 100% with Ren in hoping this can all change.

You are the Christian I strive to be! Open minded, understanding, and always learning! I was nervous your "HUH" was negative, because this can hit a lot of people the wrong way... but the conversations are so important! Have you watched his 1 million subscriber speech yet? If not, I HIGHLY recommend you do! It goes along with this, and what he wants to use his voice for. Next to his talent, it's his heart I love. Great reaction, and spread that word!

Funny you should mention auditory hallucinations. Ren has written in his comments under Hi Ren, that he stood in the back yard at 9 years old yelling at the voices in his head to shut up...and they did. I think he was born walking that edge between madness and genius with all his empathy already in place. One of the things i love most about him is how he blurs those wall and borders that divide us. And personally, i think our limited minds make Source much, much too small.

Are you sure that Kenneth requested "Eden" a while ago? I have a feeling he wanted you to react to "Genesis". Ren dropped Eden just 10 days ago. Eden was the last of a series of videos that accompanied Ren''s Money Game ARG. The Money Game ARG was sort of a live online treasure hunt themed around the seven deadly sins. It took place in the days before the Money Game Part 3 release. Ren hid clues in those videos that led to more puzzles which could only be solved through collaboration. It was an intense learning experience and a true blast for the Renegades.

I wanted to add a few comments about not feeling the holy spirit like you are, "supposed to." I grew up in a pretty extreme Christian religion and dumped it when I observed the absolute hypocrisy and terror so many of these people brought into the experience of others. I attempted to expose this and was cast out. I have spent decades exploring spirituality, attending churches and talking with people about their beliefs. But then I started learning ways to quiet my mind and, specifically, my cognitions. My thought stream is in language. It is in the language I first learned. And language is limited. In fact, language is a prison for our experience. And so, once I learned to shut it down. Once I learned to experience myself without the constraints of language, I felt it. I connected with what you would call God, what hindu/Buddhists may call nirvana, but what is essentially the something larger than myself. I did this through meditation. It could have just as easily been called prayer. Or flow. Or whatever words and concepts we assign to it using the language and terms we were told to call it by. I don't talk about it much with people because language gets in the way of conveying its meaning. And I am absolutely certain that language has gotten in the way for millenia. What we are told is wrong. Not because it doesn't exist, but because we are told how to experience it. But to experience it, language must be suspended. And once you break out of the boundaries that are inherent in language you find a much, MUCH larger you.

Thank you. Language though it structures our thoughts, is rude like the Lego version of a great sculpture. Perception formatted for linguistics?... Also there are many overlapping themes and values between differing religious scriptures. It even makes me consider universal truths. There is a Hindu story in the upanishads that makes me reevaluate what Jesus said when he said ye are the salt of the earth Tat Tvam Asi - You Are That! - Chandogya Upanishad Uddalaka told Shvetaketu to bring him a piece of fruit from a nearby banyan tree and to break it open. Shvetaketu did and said, “There are seeds inside, all very small.” “Now break one of the seeds and tell me what you see.” “Nothing, Father.” Uddalaka said,”‘My son, this great banyan tree has grown from a seed so small that you cannot see it. Believe me, an invisible and subtle essence is the Spirit of the whole universe. Now, take this salt and put it in some water and bring it to me tomorrow morning.” The next morning Shvetaketu looked for the salt but couldn’t find it because it had dissolved. Uddalaka asked his son to taste the water. “Salty,” he said, adding “the salt will always remain in the water.” “That’s right. The salt permeates the water, just like the Self. Even though we cannot see it, the Self is within all things and there is nothing that doesn’t come from Him. This invisible and subtle essence is the Spirit of the whole universe. That is reality. That is truth. And you, Shvetaketu, you-are that!“ Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

I have only just started this video but I too consider myself a Christian. I do go to church on Sunday but I would say I’m very left thinking I just don’t believe any of us can judge one another for anything that doesn’t hurt someone else. Having that said, I appreciate things like this too. I love that other peoples perspectives, other peoples ideas and I think that’s the only way we can learn and grow by listening to others even if you don’t agree. There’s always a chance you might change your perspective on something. I might change my perspective on something too. Arguments are dumb. Debates are great.

I understand there are various philosophical gymnastics to explain it, but you can understand Ren's take when the Standard English Bible translates god's proscription as, ‘But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’ (Oh, and maybe Jesus would pick CHINATOWN's script as the best ever, but Yahweh says it's CITIZEN KANE eternally. And I have to agree with Yahweh. He smites dissenters.)
