Ren is a young man from Wales who has Lyme Disease, but was misdiagnosed and mistreated for years...causing him great suffering...including psychosis. He's now in Canada receiving medical treatment and working on his music. Ren doesn't have a record deal...he's mostly a street busker! This video is live, this is take 4 of the full run thru. The pure pain and hope he conveys here is just shockingly fantastic! I think every one of us can relate to this masterpiece! Many of you know me some... I don't like rap or hip hop...this seems a really unlikely song for me to fall in love with...and I'm not easy to impress! This...punched me in the gut about a week ago and I'm completely obsessed. I'm sharing this with everyone I know and, telling strangers about it. It feels urgently important. I laugh, I cry, I hear and see myself in Ren, in this song. Thank you so much for reacting to this! (You can see that plenty of your regulars are here!) I know that y'all are going through some.deep and difficult stuff...so I knew this would hit you hard...but also, it's a giant hug from me, to you. And an extended hand of friendship and love in acknowledgement of your struggles. Of everyone's struggles. This feels important. Please share it with literally everyone! I heard you say you saw Sick Boi...I really urge you to steer towards another song for your 2nd...Chalk Outlines, live w Chinchilla. It's as fucking intense as this...but a beautifully sung duet...powerful!...and totally different from Hi Ren. You know I'm tech challenged...I've had the link for it qued up in a text to you for days...until you saw this... ❤

I'm standing and applauding you girl, for revealing this amazing human being to Wolf and Sue...and now I am left Wanting for their Son's reaction ... Jenny & Screech ( Full ) is unequivocally a masterpiece of musical/Cinema..Violets Tale as being the last song of the Story, wasn't created and added for several years because of his Illness becoming so severe...A battle he says in HI REN, he wasn't meant to win, however, The pendulum was more intense as it swayed to the light, and gave him the lead finally in his Eternal Dance...Never underestimate what we as human beings are capable of overcoming with patience and perseverance.

Thank you, Amy, for these interesting pieces of information, but moreover the warm sentiment that radiates from your comment. To me Ren's lyrics in this song are indeed relatable, both directly and indirectly. I too am not particularly fond of the music genre that this song apparently belongs to, however, like you, I was also very much impressed by it, and the artist as well. I can also tell you that I share your feeling of importance regarding its subject matter. It is therefore my hope that Ren's song will reach far and wide for everybody to hear, and hopefully somehow help those who can relate to it and help others to learn something from it.

One more thing. Other music by Ren. He has a piece with a lovely lady by Chinchilla it's a must listen, that one he wrote about his friend that had killed himself. "How To Be Me" by the two of them also by them "Chalk Outlines". I will be 74 next month, these songs wake us up and helps to realize that our time on this earth is not a guarantee to many many years of health and happiness, although we do strive for it. We do what we can and hope for the best and just keep pushing that demon in our minds or the demons among us that want to destroy us, we just need to keep them all away when we have those moments of despair.

This song is a landmark moment in music history. There are almost no other single songs that are as impressive and important as this one. It's made me reconsider what I used to think was 'great music'. I saw Pink Floyd on the Division Bell Pulse tour, so I can't say this is the greatest thing I've ever seen, but it's definitely up there somewhere. Music is funny like that - how often we think we just witnessed greatness - but this one I feel confident in my proclamation. Genius work.

I think you might want to consider that people take in music, lyrics, and visuals in different ways, and, especially when thought-provoking and/or emotionally charged song lyrics are involved, one can really find oneself getting absorbed by what it is that is being conveyed by the artist, and become very focused on that, meanwhile becoming expressionless or filled with a sense of awe. I have a feeling that this is what happened to SueSue in this reaction video.

This was a beautiful reaction, thank you for your analysis at the end, I truly believe that everybody can relate to the inner struggle that is portrayed in this song, and I love that you pointed out that at the end Ren stood out of his chair and put down his guitar and stayed on his own two feet, representing that he had come out of the other side of an inner issue. From what I have heard Ren has had quite a rough ride and is currently going through a lot with his mental and physical health as I am sure alot of people can relate to these days, we must remember that life is this eternal dance of highs and low's and that it is charging through our struggles and coming out the other side is what makes life meaningful. Loved the reaction, I suggest checking out Ren's three part trilogy the tale of Jenny and Screech all in one video, another amazing performance by Ren 😊

This was an enjoyable reaction. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 5 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of his songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard. His trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion. It needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling. It has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up), their busking (street performances), concerts, and their live recordings, are awesome and well worth checking out. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” "War Pigs," "Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. Ren recently released his single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. As mentioned above, his latest release, “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” is another masterful work.

Each is related to the other but I won’t give away any surprises. It’s a bit longer but we’ll worth the time and showcases some of REN’s insane guitar skills. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. Ren has an amazing ability to express the turmoil what is going on in so many of our heads. He speaks truth. I'd love to hear your thoughts on more of Ren's music, musically as well as otherwise. There are so many deep songs that express the turmoil. Two really positive ones with a message for those struggling with mental or physical illness, check out Humble and Power. But overall you are in for a ride if pure brilliance.

Thank you, SueSue and Wolfman, for this very personal and understanding reaction. I'd seen references to this music video in the form of other reactors' thumbnails on YT before, but I'd not yet checked any of them out, till now. Like I told Amy in my reply to her comment here, I was also very much impressed by this young man's performance from seeing your reaction to his music video, and I too feel that the message he is putting out through it, is one that everyone should hear, because its subject matter is inevitably going to affect everybody at some point in their life. I for one can relate to it in more than one way, and I find it to be both inspiring and helpful to my personal situation. With that said, I encourage you guys to continue doing what you're doing, as it's a wonderful journey that the both of you are taking all of us on. Lots of love and best wishes to you both and your son Joe! 💟

@@SueSueandthewolfman You're welcome, Sue, and, thanks for asking. Well, given the circumstances I find myself in at the moment I'm doing reasonably well. It helps that I have Amy to talk to now, she's a real blessing. I guess it's just gonna take some time for me to come to grips with what happened to me, and to hopefully find a new purpose in life. Thanks again and have a great evening!

this is not fighting or curing mental illness, its about acceptance and coping with the thought processes and handling it in a way to move forward. Ren suffers Lyme disease that was not diagnosed for 10yrs hence the wheelchair and subsequent health problems since...immense respect to Ren and Wolf, i find mental health easier and more relatable from a person who has, and still is going through it, as opposed to a professional who can point in the right direction but has no knowledge of the emotions and thoughts.

As someone that suffered severe depression for over 38 years now i can only say i can see in both of you that you also got your own heavy demons and just remember, you are only human and suffering is part of us, this hits very hard for all of us that suffer some form of mental illness. I know it is easy to say, but don't be afraid of talking about it, it's not weak or shameful, it's human. it is actually really refreshing and tension releasing to talk about your problems, but not just with anyone, talk with someone that you really really trust and really get's it. Coz we really need that more than anything a doctor can say who hasn't experienced it. It's like Ren says, it is an eternal dance and we just need to try and learn how to suffer and find the middle ground and keep dancing because the dark and the light are two parts of the same coin. We are the duality

each of us can relate to this in our minds, whether its depression, addictions suvh as alcohol, weed, tobacco, vaping, gambling and so on, i have been addicted to weed and cigarrettes since i was 7, now i'm 60 and 8 years post massive stroke, tobacco tells me smoke one it relaxes you, helps curb your appetite, me they are so bad for me they stink my friends hate em, tobacco they'll get over it you're stressed smoke one just 3 a day, me they're 11 bucks a pack i stink and so on ren is genious listening to this is better than any type of therapy i've had save for driving my wrangler into deathvalley national park no substitute for that

Tell the Wolfgang, all he needs is some Just for Men & he COULD BE wolf man Jack!!! Thanx for the reaction.

I'm not sure if you read these comments or if you chat with your regulars on live stream or a patreon, but there was something that made just have to make a comment, which I don't often do. First time checking you guys out, and about the millionth reaction I watched of Hi Ren...lol. I'll try not to ramble, which I tend to do as of late. Obviously I loved your reaction to the song, how Sue was dialed in from the very first note, and Wolfman was fidgeting a little at first but got drawn in more and more as the song progressed. What really hit me hard though, almost like seeing this song for the first time, was at the end, when Wolfman got a little upset and went and made some coffee. I'm not judging, or here to give advice or any of that bullshit, It's just that I wanted to tell you that seeing Wolfman there at the end was like looking in a damn mirror, I was sure I knew what was going through your head, and I've seen the thought process behind Sue's eyes, as she carried on like a trooper, a look I've caused more times than I wish to admit, while Wolfman took a breather and composed his thoughts and made some coffee. Again, I'm not telling you all this to say this is how I fixed this, or that's how I used to be, in fact the opposite. The world has a long way to go at normalizing mental health so people can get the help they need, but it's gotten much better from when you two, and myself were younger, so I realize that there's lot of people out there struggling, but when you see someone with almost the exact same struggle, it's almost comforting. Not in a cruel way, just in a sense of kindred spirits sort of way. I've sat here for ten minutes since dotting the end of last sentence because I NEVER talk about this except to my therapist, but to put it bluntly, my mental health issues have cost me dearly. Part of it was some dysfunctional family stuff, but who the hell has a normal functional family anyway, ya know. I think a lot of it came because I didn't have the foresight of someone like Ren, I was invincible in my youth, aren't we all? Even though as a few years passed and I grew a healthy respect for life and my physical well being, what I did for a living was mentally tough too, and I could take what ever gore or human suffering it could throw at me, and I was fine, so I thought. A couple years ago I had to walk away from a 27yr career of working 48hr shifts, living with brothers n sisters I cared for as much as family, riding around in a big red truck with blinky lights and a big ass siren, doing something that I thought they'd have to drag me kicking and screaming into retirement or I'd just go out like some dumb hero after saving a baby from a third story burning inferno or some shit. I had to walk away, because I was one of those that thought it couldn't happen to me, and as time went on, I thought I'd concurred it, no way it would happen out of the blue, this late in my career. Well "it" came in the form of job related ptsd, a panic disorder with a side of hot steaming anxiety. All this with a lifelong struggle with anger issues. I'm not trying to dump all my woes in your comment section, but the point I was wanting to make and seem to be taking forever to get there is, I don't know what exactly Wolfman is struggling with, but both of us have similar results, my anger issues I've had a handle on for quite a while, but they morphed into getting my feelings hurt very easy, not continuing what I'm doing, leaving events or get togethers, often leaving my wife standing there like I just took a dump on the couch then ran out the door. And as always, she made the best of it, eased the tension with others, and carried on with her chin up. I should have said ex-wife, because eventually it was too much day in and day out. I had been in therapy for those issues long before the ptsd, but not long enough that years of, first my anger, then my walking away or giving up episodes, finally took their toll on her and she left me. Of course I was devastated at first, and I still miss her, but there is a bit of light, not that we'll get back together, but my therapy and self reflection has been working, along with some meditation, I've got a much better handle on it, well, let's call it just a "better" handle on it, and I've become friends again with my ex. She lives far away, I'm not trying to rekindle anything, but she's been really supportive of me and we talk fairly often, and she's allowed me to be selfless a few times and emotionally support her during a few of her hardships. That's pretty much it, I just wanted you two to know how lucky you are that you have each other, at our ages, we're all a bit battered, and been broken and glued back together many times, we just have to hold on to that pendulum until it starts swinging back toward the light, and you guys get to hold on to each other while doing so. I'm not sure why that small of a thing at the end of your video brought out so many feelings, but when I was deciding whether or not to leave this comment, I was flipping through your other reactions, and didn't see any bands that I was familiar with and clicked on "other" playlist and saw the Grateful Dead and immediately hit play. I followed them a couple 2-3 summers in the early 90s, the last years of Jerry, probably seen a dozen shows or so, even have a tattoo of the iconic Steal Your Face logo. I saw Jerry's youthful face and you two jamming out with Sue dancing and the sweet sounds of Ripple coming through my surround sound, and I burst out in one of those weird happy crying fits, grinning ear to ear, and it just felt like home again, like I was young and everything was going to be ok. So thank you from the bottom of my heart, for giving me the best real moment I've had in quite some time. Sorry, I warned ya I ramble..lol ✌️💚

Sue, the intensity of your gaze was... well I flounder attempting to provide adequate description. There was a moment where your entire countenance completely locked in. I believe it is a moment, recorded in time, where the sudden realization of, "Oh wait, this is something really profound. This is..." and you just locked in with a laser focus for the next 3 minutes or so, virtually motionless. A snippet of those 3ish minutes should be clipped and shown to anyone that asks, "Who's Ren?" It perfectly answers the question without any words being required. God bless you both
