This man is a giant among the first generation of pioneer skaters. Rene was true inspiration for me in the southwestern USA watching him show the world what could be done on 8 wheels.

In those old skate vids Rene would alsways be drinking beer before, during and after skating, great to see he turned one of his passions into a career! Great skater and great guy it always seemed =D

I met Rene in the late 90's at Playstation skate park in London, such a cool guy.. Happy to chat and discuss his skate set up which at the time was Roces 5th element and Cozmo wheels. Rocking up in a West ham united shirt drinking a beer then tearing the place to pieces...

He performed in Tel Aviv in some fair, and I asked for his autograph . He was super cool about it and I was a shy kid. I held on to that signature for a long time. I dont know when I lost it but for , but he will always be a hero to me

Tak for god video. En gammel helt som jeg altid så op til. Først i Rødovre, når han en gang imellem besøgte jern-verten, og senere da han tog verden med storm.

We used to look up to Rene and a few others as we were gaining on the pro's fast in Australia. Shane Yost, Nick Leg, myself and others who skated from Tasmania, Australia could do almost everything the pro's could but never got the lime light because we weren't in a major capital city on the mainland. The good old days.

I'll never forget seeing René's debut section in Mad Beef and how groundbreaking it was. He made a hell of an entry with big tricks that didn't make sense. Interesting to see what he's up to now. I was so pumped when he turned up to the 1996 Australian Titles and I got to see him skating the vert ramp at Bondi. His disaster tricks were brutal - no wonder his knees are buggered.
