He is self taught haha. He watched a bunch of youtube to get better. He talks about it in one of his interviews. Yes all 3 parts of this are one takes. Something a lot of people miss is, when screech goes to partrick for help but he isn't home, the something more sinister awaits, so he frantically calls his girlfriend, who ends up being "busy" with his friend Patrick. Which adds more fuel to the fire when he turns to face the blue lights... Great reaction brother! I love how in the first 2 parts reactors break it down heaps, but then through Violette's tale everyone gets engulfed in the story and then BAM! With the twist!!! Also, Jenny was quiet/frozen like her mother Violette, and her grandmother the silent drunk. Screech was violent, like his father Stevie, and his grandfather... So so many little details Ren puts into his artistry......

He released these three over the course of about four years. The first one (Jenny's Tale) was just a song he wrote after reading a news story about a young prostitute found dead in London. The characters (Jenny and Screech) were entirely fictional. Then about a year later, he added to the tale with more info about 'Screech'. And then two years after that he came up with the big ending... another fictional character that tied Jenny and Screech together with Shakespearean levels of tragedy and irony.

Ren cross-references EVERYTHING. As his body of work increases, just keeping up with his references to his other works is its own entertainment. You asked if he's self-taught. He attended a school for performing arts in Bath and graduated. He says his family is very musical; but he does talk about learning things through KZitem videos also. His father Martin Gill has a KZitem page in which some of his musical videos are "12th and 13th century songs and tunes". If you go check those out you can clearly see the "bard" influence. He calls himself "Bardcore".

There is a lot of frame building in all three stories each and as a whole. There is not realy foreshadwoing in the first two parts but in the whole third part. In both first parts the ending is mirroring the beginning lyricaly and musicaly. And they both end with "it's such a shame" Jenny: Wants to sleep - found somewhere to sleep Wanted to escape - guess that she escaped Screech: Out story it start right at the end - our story ends right at the start This may be a foreshadowing that third endpart is the start of their story/lifes Violet: "2-0-0-5" is the year of their birth/violets death (14 years before jenny s tale was released) "History repeats itself" circle of violence-foreshadowing that their kids will have the same fate The first lyric when both first meet in jennys tale is the same when violets tale ends/when jenny and screech first meet in real life at birth: "A (poor) girl jenny, a boy named Screech" - "A girl named jenny a boy named screech" They died like in birth: Screech tale "lying only one street apart" - Violets tale "it happen on these very streets, two twins aligned side by side" Also "to set the scene, we must rewind the hands of time for violets tale" does not only means the scene for violet but also the scene for jenny and screech, so rewind even more back from perspective of jenny and screech There is surely more that i oversee but these alone are mindblowing for me how well written these tales are and he weave the stories. Two things many misses: the reason patrick is nit at home is the reason his girlfriend is buisy. The fact that they are twins means jenny was also 14 years old, with high heel shoes, rosy on her cheeks, walking this street many times at night,...underaged prostitued.
@seth1455
Жыл бұрын
"A (poor) girl jenny, a boy named Screech" - I thought he stuffed up there but kept going, I thought he started to say a boy called Jenny then realised what he was just about to say, The other thing that always gets my attention is at the end when introducing the twins "A girl named jenny a boy named screech" his name is James it's only years later that he got the nickname Screech.

New Sub here. Name’s Clark. Great reaction! Yes, Ren is completely self-taught. His dad gave him a little acoustic guitar as a kid, but he only set out to really learn how to play at 12, because he was so rural there was no one around to accompany his singing. He learned watching Django Reinhardt videos on youtube, launching with simple replication. I heartily encourage you to add his band, The Big Push into your reaction lineup and I encourage you to cover their acoustic one-take of their song “Sweet Little Lady”. I also encourage you to bump his collaborations with Chinchilla up in the Ren list, especially his live acoustic version of “How to be Me”. And hit The Big Push’s rooftop cover of Manu Chao’s Bongo Bong. It’s a must! Thanks! Ciao!

I think I have seen in various Ren videos that he does use a pick most of the time. We don't see it, but I think it's there. He surprises most of us with the skills he has that can draw you in. And he does DRAW you in, makes you LOOK makes you THINK makes you want to KNOW more. Is Ren a chameleon? A good definition (I googled of course) "The chameleon effect is not a strategic facsimile of a person's gestures and facial expressions. It's more natural. It's a tendency we all may adopt to imitate someone else's voice and physical gestures so as to create a bond of intimacy and friendship. This can be done either consciously or subconsciously". Yes I personally think Ren is a natural chameleon, and he uses that "innate talent" and is very creative with it. Everything Ren does is either fun, sad, outrageous, crazy, deep with meaning, or educational. Ren is an enigma, although not a true enigma according to a "dictionary", since he tells us more about himself and his life than a true enigmatic person would, he isn't mysterious he doesn't hide anything. But he surprises most of us with his diversity. His singing, musical talent with many instruments, acting, narrating and performing is just so captivating.

You're getting a ton of suggestions that cover Ren's singing talents, I heartily second them, beautiful pieces worthy of analyzing with your expertise. But if you and your viewers enjoyed "Sick Boi", remember Ren's a world-class rapper as well. Some suggestions on that front: "Genesis", "The Hunger", "Power", "Illest of Our Time", "Love Music" (parts 1, 2, and 3; fun variations on a theme) "Humble" and "Ocean". I'd be particular interested in your take on his acting and musical performance in "Money Game Part 1". His latest, "Animal Flow" is also great, but it might be good to get familiar with his range first. New song coming on June 8, too. He also does some cool retakes, where he takes someone else's track, remixes it to suit his needs, then creates original rap over the top of it. Try "Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake)", "Losing It (Fisher rap retake)", "Right Here, Right Now (Fatboy Slim retake)".

There are some great live performances to look up: their mashup I shot the sheriff, Road to Zion and Hip Hop (kzitem.info/news/bejne/1ombqamIbmOjmKA) is a great start. His latest release is Animal Flow, if you know your George Orwell you'll find some neat easter eggs in the music video (kzitem.info/news/bejne/p2qju6Kjf5SHgZw) but he also has a live acoustic version of it on guitar (kzitem.info/news/bejne/rJ6j02mQpYWkqYo) that might interest you. Two of my favorite are Money Game pt.1 (kzitem.info/news/bejne/kZ-st6utoIllgo4) and pt.2 (kzitem.info/news/bejne/uqWkuW2VinyTo20). Anyway, there are too many good songs by him to list them all, and then a bunch of awesome covers and remakes to add to that.

Bro... Buckle up!!! Ren has more layers than an onion! More Bars than a prison! Think if Eminem, Shakespeare, Bob Marley, and Jimi Hendrix had a Baby... That's Ren!!! Suggest Chaulk Outlines, Crutch, Life Is Funny, Hold On, Bittersweet Symphony, What you Want and Fire, etc.... (Cannot find a bad track! Very few are the same style/genre!)

it's a common saying in the UK to call someone who is making a loud scream/wailing sound a Banshee, I knew it was of Irish origin, didn't know the google definition that you were referring to , interesting
