I have a 2014 Renault Clio 4. The fuel filler cover has an electric locking actuator connected to the car's central locking. The actuator on my fuel cover failed leaving it locked and I was unable to refuel my car. There is only one Renault dealer near where I live and they said they were booked out for 4 weeks (I kid you not).
A quick check on the Internet indicated that the lock can be manually overridden by lifting a tab on the top of the electric actuator. Unfortunately it also explained that the only way to access the actuator and release tab was to completely dismantle all of the interior panels on the right hand side of the car from the rear door to the hatch and from the floor to the roof.
I lack the specialised trim removal tools and expertise to remove and re-install the trim panels and felt I would very likely damage the trim and be unable to reinstall it neatly. I found a simpler alternative method that allowed me access the manual release tab and refuel my car. It does require some cutting of interior trim but the cut is completely hidden when the rear seat is in the normal upright position.
It's not the most elegant solution but it did get me out of a difficult situation quickly and requires no special tools or expertise. It may help others who find themselves in this situation.
