I mounted my NVR on top of my network switch. That way everything fits into the Structured wiring Cabinet.

While it might never cause an issue, power cords should never be ran inside the wall. Code requires in wall rated cable with a receptacle up top. Yeah it’s extra work but better safe than sorry. Plus if there’s a fire and your insurance company determines it to have played a part in the problem, they can deny the claim.

I like the cord managment. I got to thinking as I watched your video. Could you not tie the two ends of your rope together making a loop then attach each wire with a twist of the rope and friction loop. This would speed your process up as you dont have to refish every time

Wondering if Wireless HDMI and a wireless mouse would allow me to skip the monitor sitting right next to the NVR in closet. I could operate the NVR in a different room without cables running to the TV/Monitor. Any ideas?

If you haven't put it in a steel lock box or hidden location than you need to rethink it. Criminals know if they can either steal or destroy the nvr than no video of them. Mine is hidden and in a metal lock box.

I guess you couldn't use a patch panel because it's POE? (Sorry if this is a silly question as really new to this)

I could use the patch panel but for my situation wall mounting just made sense. Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

what is the white box where you mount everything called?
@deezle1460

its called an access panel... but in THIS case he has electrical code violations (basic power cords behind drywall... cords behind a wall must be insulted and designed/rated to be ran behind a wall)

Are you not worry about NVR getting stolen if you get burglarized? Why not put it in the attic and drop down VGA cable for the monitor?
@UltimateTechHub
3 жыл бұрын
Not really because my NVR is next to my gun safe...lol. Also we have top notch security and locks. And my attic gets to be about 140 degrees in the summer and the NVR would probably end up fried. Although its good advice for a different situation. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

I don't think reolink makes a 32 channel nvr. You will have to check there website. By the way thats a heck of a lot of cameras!!! Lol

I hate to be a party pooper for all of your "Great Job" comments... BUT running "basic power cords" behind drywall (any wall) is a code violation... FIRE hazard... if you put your home up for sale WITH the violations and IF the potential buyer demands a home inspection you will have to correct the violations or remove the violations... and thats if your home survives the fire hazard... electrical code is usually overkill so I dont expect you will have a home fire BUT correcting the violation could result in a delayed sale/failed sale.

Yes it is and I've moved the NVR to my panel shelf so the wire is not in the wall. But I didn't move it because of the wire, just because I got a new NVR system. If I sold my house I would never leave it like that. Thanks for watching and for commenting!

I just emailed REOLINK today about mounting my NVR to the wall. Their response " No, it is not suggested to install the NVR vertically. Is it possible to install a Shelf for the NVR? Or place the NVR on the table?" Do you have any experience doing it this way? I have to install mine outside...on the building.....in an enclosure of course.

Yes you can definitely install it on a shelf. I would install maybe on a wire shelf so the NVR can be secured with zip ties or some sort of fastener to keep it from falling. As far as mounting to the wall Reolink has to say not recommended because they don't want the liability if the NVR falls from a poorly mounted NVR. But yes a shelf works just as good. Keep me posted!

I had a Night owl camera system the NVR had protruded spots underneath to mount virtually. I was really disappointed the my Reolink don't have this.

I am sorry to say but, your wire management skills are pretty bad. If I would have you in my home and you showed that to me as a finished job, I would be showing you to the door and then write my review like I am doing now. Sorry,

Lol. Thanks for the honest comments. This video is old and my wire management is much better now. I've added a UPS and removed the 2 tb cloud. Wire management is usually a work in progress. Thank you for watching.
