I purchased a Pottery Barn child's table and chairs recently. It was definitely well loved to say the least. It was in great condition with the exception of it definitely needed to be repainted or refinished and updated.
I have been looking for a table and chair set for my granddaughters that was large enough to be able to craft on and I was pleased to see this one available locally.
I was very surprised at the amount of paint, glue, tape, marker, Play-Doh,crayons and other things that were on these tables and chairs. I spent probably four or five hours scraping all of this off of just the four chairs. After doing that I realized I was going to actually have to paint the chairs and the table. originally the plan was to use Old English oil on them to be able to leave the beautiful dark brown look. So into the house they came.
The chalked paint that I use is called Country Paint and I used two colors one was mustard and the other was crumb cake.
In the end I finished the top in a very dark wax along with the drawers.
I then applied 3 coats of mod podge for a water resistant finish.
I then attached crystal knobs to the front of the drawers and it just gave it a really cute look.
Originally I had cut out a bunch of vinyl designs for the top of the table that was all about crafting and after seeing the table finished I decided that I didn't want to use them. I will now use them on a different project at some point.
This is a very easy but time-consuming project, but I am very pleased with how it turned out.
