I have the exact same blender with the exact same problem. Your fixed worked perfectly, thanks! And shame on Kitchen Aid for making this key component out of plastic. Otherwise I really like the blender.

They don't want to make one because they want to sell more $100 dollar items than provide $15 repair parts. This can be 3D printed for $15 to $ 20.

Thank you for this! My blender had been sitting in a drawer for years, presumed dead, but I found this video just before tossing it in the trash. Turns out mine was was actually broken for a slightly different reason: The motor shaft was slipping in the coupler. But this video helped me realize that sliding the coupler down the shaft by the tiniest amount (using a smaller washer) made it engage again. I didn't even need to trim the coupler!

Hey - how did you do that? My Cuisinart stick blender just suddenly started making noise - and the metal shaft with the blade slips vertically. If I connect it and push down the blade, it'll engage just fine - but I turn it back in the direction that I use it and it slips out of place. Seems like a washer is missing or something (and I don't own a dishwasher and never submerge the blending shaft)

The washer repair is only temporary. I Designed a stronger replacement coupler and 3D printed them out of stronger material. Works great and drop right in.

My approach was a bit lazier. Just stuffed the hole of the cupler with a little paper ball on the spindle side. Before that I checked if the blade rod can go deeper into the coupler. I was lucky so that saved me from cutting and finding washer.... By the way thanks for the tip. I was scratching my how to crack open and the fix the little chinese prodigy ( mine is different brand and model )....

i was thinking this same solution, but I dont have a 3D printer. My blender is a Kitchen Smith HB1908KB-ET. It's a little different than the KA part shown. A whole new blender is only $20 but it's the principle of the thing that irks me. A .$05 part kills a $20 gadget. Happy to pay for part & shipping.

I have new couplers that are stronger than the original ones. You only have to remove the old and push in the new one. They work perfectly.

I was tempted to super glue them together permanently, but after a quick google i'm going to try this first. Manufactured default. Its intentional. They do it so we buy more crap. Shame I don't buy the same crap twice. Lol
