I was ready to buy and install a new flow valve (about $100.00). However, from your video I realized that those two little pins were the problem. The PVC ring did not quite work. But I depressed each pin with a small screw driver to clear the flow. The splash in the face was worth the effort. Be sure you have a big towel handy. After reinstalling the filter the flow was greatly increased. Thanks.

WOW...I can't believe it. I looked at a dozen other videos that wanted to check the different valves or switch out the filter itself and then I ran across this video. I just used one of those round water hose gaskets/O-rings, which were about the size this video showed, and would you believe it fixed my slow water issue. I never would have believed it! Great video and fix for me! Thank you...

Thank you so much! I used a 5/8" rubber hose washer to fix slow flow that I'd been having for years. Appliance repair company was trying to charge me $600-936 to replace housing parts, "depending on which parts they ended up installing" (which probably would've just been all of them). Ugh. I REALLY wanted this to work. I tried 1/2 inch PVC and a hose washer. No luck. We have the same fridge as you and have experienced a drastic reduction in water flow. It’s super frustrating. The ice side seems to be fine (fills ice maker in mere seconds) but the water side is barely more than a trickle. Would that lean more towards the water solenoid?

I have the exact same problem. Can you list the measurement of the slice and pvc pipe. I know you said schedule 40? Thanks.
@BobbyDotNet
6 жыл бұрын
It is 1/2" pvc pipe, schedule 40 refers to the thickness of the pipe wall (sched 40 is the thicker of the two). I cut the slice to be about a thick as a dime, no thicker. You can also rub the slice on a piece of sand paper to make it thinner. It should be a little harder to screw on the filter, but only a little harder, don't use a lot of force, it's all plastic in there. If you have to use a lot of force the pvc ring is too thick. Cheers.

@BobbyDotNet
5 жыл бұрын
You statements were a bit confusing, "on my second filter in 4 months", and "I guess I will be going through 5/6 filters a month.". In any case, two common possible reasons jump to mind. 1. The issue with the pins as I detailed in the video. 2. You might have some sort of silt or sand plugging your filters. You could try opening a plugged filter and looking for something coating the charcoal and plugging the filter.
