Thanks for doing this Video Mike. I have a Rolleiflex T V3 with sticky slow shutter speeds, so I will have to turn up the special tools and give this a go. Mine has a second problem, tha the the aperture display no longer moves. The combined aperture/shutter speed lever still works correctly, and positions the aperture blades to the correct F-stop, but the display doesn't work. Any suggestions how to fix this would be appreciated.

My leaf shutter sometimes just keeps half open after cranking, sometimes shutter doesn't fire at all. Would you assume it is easily repairable, like regreasimg? Or is something broke inside?

Great thanks for putting a video Rolleiflex. I have two questions. 1. Friction usually comes from the shutter curtains or can be timer-clock seconds? 2. What type of oil is used to lubricate the video for the curtains? Thank you very much for your kindness !!

Hi Jose First: There are many different TLR cameras with different shutters, some of the names are: Compur, Syncro Compur, Compound, Copal..., ALL are they Leaf shutters. 1. The shutter in those old cameras like Rolleiflex, Rolleicord, Yashicamat, etc. etc..., are very most of the time a leaf shutter, therefor there is NO "curtain". The time settings is handled by 2 seperate gears, a slow gear, that take the time from 1 second up to 1/60 sec. The higher speed's is handled by the "high speed gear" that goes from around 1/125 sec. (all, depeding on models and brand..) up to 1/500 or more. 2. This camera has the very commen problem, because the leaf's was stuck by old stiff oil at the shutter blades. I could have completly disassemble the shutter, but it is some time not nessesary, because it can easily be fixit with 2-3 drops of LIGHTER FLUID (Zippo) on the blades. Keep the camera flat on the table and from above, apply 2-3 drop direct on the blades ONLY, when the shutter is closed. Cock the shutter and fire it many times, and you will see it will free up after some try. Hope it make sense :-) Cheers Kenneth

Hi Kenneth! Thank you very much for your kind reply !! Yes, I realized you used gasoline zippo! I did not know it was a cleaner / lubricant ideal for this but it is a great idea !! (I know that gasoline is an excellent cleaner in auto mechanics). Thanks for your explanations and put a video on Rolleiflex. They are fascinating and I love it !! machines. Thanks for your advice and follow them to see such. We will comment when finished to see how it suits me. Mil Gracias friend and greetings from Spain, Jose Luis.

jose luis lluelma Not exactly gasoline, but close. It's naptha, which is still sold as a solvent for painters and for Coleman Fuel. However, gasoline and the Coleman fuel have numerous additives, unlike your Zippo lighter fluid or the painter's product

Mike, my Compur is essentially frozen. What do you think about taking the lenses out, pretty easy, and try the lighter fluid on the shutter blades? While the other working parts can certainly gum up, it's the blades that have so much surface area for "stiction."

I just made a cla, and by pure mistake i forgot to put back the tiny screw that holds the black ring in place, is this is real problem, should i take the camera front out again and set the screw back or i can leave it like that, what is the chance for the ring to rotate freely??

Hello @mikeno62. Thank you for the video. One question, can you explain how to separate the two elements from the front group? I need to clean between the lenses but i can't separate both lenses.

Most of the time it's the slow gear that make's the problem, because the shutter mechanism get stuck, so try follow the process in my film.

Hi Mike - I have opened my 'T' because the aperture wasn't opening and closing correctly. Do you have this film without the time lapse? I'd like to hear your explanation of what's inside and how the shutter and the aperture interact with the adjustment rings.

I have already made another video about the Rolleiflex with a sticky shutter, and other details, you can see it here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tJWrmI2KiIWoY4Y

@@mikeno62 Thanks for replying! I have seen that video (and it really helped when I fixed my Automat) but the insides of the 'T' are a little different. I have one where the aperture is completely frozen (the forked lever that locates on the adjusting pin doesn't move at all), so I'd like to see your video in full if you have it, as you're good at explaining things as you go along!

Hi Mike, Do you have a video showing the inside of the right side of the camera, where the winding mecanism and the crank are. Mine seem to be jammed, Crank wheels seem not to roll freely as they should (there is an inner and outer wheel). Could not find a repair manual showing how it should be in nomral condition, thnk's

Just an idea, what if you try to gently manipulate the self timer handle a few time, it sometimes get stuck.

Tak for videoen! Ved du hvor jeg finder den der rørdims som du lavede skrueværktøj ud af og hvad sådan én hedder? Mvh. Ulrik
@mikeno62

I have'nt seen the original tool for this task because, this is a home made tool, that I made out of a connection (connection to air-tool's) to an air hose, it's made of brass (or stainless steele..), so I grind it so there was 2 small pin's to go into the 2 small nothes in the very small retainin ring. I think the diameter is around 5-6mm. Cheers Kenneth
