I'm really curious too. Only three pins is such a small area. Maybe a tool dropped on it?

It's great to hear that you enjoy the really hard bits of soldering! You've got impressive skills and the thumbnail made me laugh. Cheers!

Amazing job as always! Wish I knew you back when I ruined the CPU pins of an old GBA SP 101 I had back in 2014, lol.

Good stuff. I worked at and eventually owned a shop which did stuff like this, total of around thirty years. I really, sincerely miss the work sometimes. A little tip if you're interested in trying it; Rather than scrape with the blade parallel-ish to the traces you're trying to remove masking from, I've found it beneficial to scrape with the blade perpendicular, and angled at 45 degrees so you're dragging the edge instead of pushing it. Dragging the edge prevents cutting the trace, but the sharpness of the edge fractures and shreds the more crystaline solder mask. Also if the blade is curved instead of flat, it can be easier to position the focus of the pressure along the appropriate area. Most X-acto sets tend to have something workable. Love the work otherwise, having done it myself I can appreciate seeing it done right. Your videos always bring me back.

Thank you so much for the tip! I'll have to give that a try next time. I tend to just go with the trace to essentially stay on the trace I'm messing with.

Wow I didn't realize you can scrape back the housing on an IC like that. Very clever work.

Where can someone pay for your service? I tried changing the clock battery on my authentic Pokemon Sapphire but I think I bridged two pins on the ROM chip with a tweezer by accident and saw an orange spark. Was so upset when I saw that and it dawned on me that I most likely fried the chip... It's weird because I've seen video tutorials where people touch these pins on the chip with a metal tweezer and nothing happens to their game. I have no idea what I did differently to have that happen to mine.

Truly the Solder King. Practiced hands make for short work, but you also make it look so easy.

Hey SolderKing, I have a GBA with a broken CPU pin that I broke when trying to install the new version of the GBA Consolizer mod. It also has a pad for the clock crystal that was lifted when removing the original crystal to install the mod. I've done my best to repair the missing pad for the crystal and I have it to the point that the console will power on for a split second before immediately powering off. How would I enlist your services to repair this GBA, and how much would it cost me?

Wow nice work! Say, what did you use to scarp away at the CPU and cut the pins? Also did you use any thing to zoom in and out or do you just eyeball it?

Thank you! I used a surgical scalpel with a number 11 blade. Similar to the shape of a standard exacto knife but much sharper and finer. As far as optics go I used a combination of a microscope and camera :)

@@Solder_kingThanks, and Happy Easter! I try and mod and fix things myself, but I am nowhere near your level. I might brake more than I fix.🤭
