My house built by my great grandfather has plaster cornice and it always amazed me when I realized the “crown” was made of plaster. I couldn’t believe it back twenty years ago when I repainted the house first time.

Well done; thanks for showing the corner repair because that requires Skill! I would love to see how you scribed the cornice to make the pattern for the molding knife.

The Jig you used to form the new plaster molding is pretty much the same thing I want to do with some complex 100yr old architraves on my interior windows and doors. The job I face is far more complex than the one you have there - I wish it were soooo easy. I have to fill and repair multiple dings, dents and chips over a complex profile with rounds, flats, sharp angles and scoops and beading. My simple idea was to use fast setting clay ... locate a small tidy section of surviving architrave - then press fast setting clay straight onto the architrave to create a negative image of the architrave. Once the Clay has set I can sand and clean up any rough areas inside the clay molding jig. Once hard, I now need only place my wood filling material over the clean architrave molding and firmly run the clay jig over the empty voids of architrave, leaving them filled as I push the jig over these areas. Wish me luck!

Nice video, want to know why did you mixed premix with powder form?

Amir Fraser I may be wrong but I believe it’s lime putty and the powder mix is gypsum (plaster of Paris) lime putty has no set but gypsum does. The mix is 100(lime) to 25(gypsum)

These videos never tell you exactly what materials are being used. It's very frustrating.
