My rear trailing arm mount was rusted out. I cut it out and welded in a patch made of heavy gauge steel plate with new high grade bolts. It may be ugly but it is extremely solid. I painted it with rust-oleum professional which has served me better than other products including eastwood chassis black and rust encapsulator. 95 Saturn SW2.
UPDATE: This repair has over 10,000 miles on it and is holding solid!
Sometimes it's a shame that unibody cars that are rusted in a few problem spots are junked instead of repaired. I've had this Saturn for over 15 years, it's a good car that has served me well so when the engine chipped a valve I decided to rebuild it and go over the body seeking out rust. These mounts, some frame patches, and rockers were easy repairs to get this car back on the road.
