Well, this will certainly be of use. There is a seam split on my spotted hyena, Aliyah, from HT. It is in a difficult spot, too. The curvature of the tail.... luckily, I have everything I need at least. Wish me luck...... PS: My IW Tiger is soft again, thanks to you. Much appreciated!

@FrostbyteTheFox

@GigBana About a month-ish. I only deflate it if necessary, like for maintenance and whatnot. It's not an issue anymore, thanks to his tutorials.

When I Find A Leak That's Pin Hole Size I Just Simply Use Either E6000 Or Beacon 527 Or Beacon Quick Grip Glues They All Work Great For Sealing Up Inflatable Holes Cause They Seal The Hole To Prevent Letting Air In And There All Waterproof And Flexible To Move With The Inflatable.

Excellent - this goes along with a comment on the "reinforcing inflatable toys" video - I wanted to do an inside patch to close the said toy I am reinforcing - this should prove useful in doing the final closure of the reinforced toy .

Nice work, where did you get the syringe? and what kind? cause I am pretty sure if I get the wrong one I have a melted piece of plastic instead of a syringe since most vinyl cement includes some kind of solvent Anyway definitely a technique I need to try on some of my toys!
@HeathDragon
3 жыл бұрын
They are just some cheapy syringes I bought off of Amazon. I believe they were 20 bucks for a hundred pack. The HH-66 has MEK, toluene, and acetone in it, all of which are solvents. I would imagine most industrial syringes should hold up.
@Mit852

I prefer syringes with larger plastic tips. They are easier to fill and reusable, but you have to be more careful to not dispense extra glue. It also allows you to use the larger flared tips to spread the glue without mucking around with brushes or thin metal tips. The metal ones work fine and you will be more precise with those. Never had a problem with plastics melting from the solvents.

Very good tutorial. Wondering if this works well when there is a long tear on the seem?? Like, 6 inches long or longer...Perhaps just cut a longer patch?? Thanks...

You can typically find patching kits that include a tube of vinyl cement and some clear vinyl in the camping section of Walmart and other such stores. I tend to use scrap vinyl from a cheap pool toy and HH-66 I purchased from Amazon.

@@HeathDragon well, a year later and life has finally calmed down enough that I can redirect my energy to fixing my big balloon whale! I've filled the guide with all the ingredients acquired, I just hope I centered the patch correctly and got all the glue in the right places, my boy's big and black so keeping track of the patch was harder then expected lol. Fingers crossed!

Thank you for this nice video! have you ever tried PVC cement? I have some on hand but no HH-66. thanks!
@HeathDragon

I would not recommend PVC pipe cement as it cures into a hard plastic. HH-66 and other vinyl cements remain soft after curing.

They were a pre-order run through G&G a long while back. I don't think there are any left unsold. You'd have to find one second hand.
