What a lovely game! Its very interesting to see just how similar the cabinet is to Segas Virtual On! Its pretty much IDENTICAL! Even the board enclosures inside are same location. I need to entirely rebuild one half of my twin cab due to delivery people dropping half of it off a truck! One day ill focus on that

Nice, i play this on the model 3 emulator its a good game, though preferred sega rally to daytona, I have a sega rally 1995 twin sit, i bought it broken, im fine with crt repair but game boards im not so clued up on, but that restoration project certainly chucked me in the deepend got both cabs working right thanks to knowable people online and a lot of transferred knowhow and invested heavily in diagnostic equipment and gameboard repair stuff, now im on the look out for an original daytona twin sit broken as they are usually cheap.

I remember putting that game on location when it was new. The original release was Battle On The Edge, which didn't perform very well. So Sega released the free upgrade Power Edition.

I have the deluxe version of this. Currently fighting off the error 20 error. It runs fine, but just no force feedback, even after replacing the drive board. Great game. Hoping to integrate a PC into it for iRacing and other racing titles, which is why I bought it. Seeing as it all worked but this error I am now more focused on getting it all working and then maybe adding in those elements.

@@LyonsArcade I replaced the control board with a eBay one, and it did nothing as far as moving things, and just gave me error 20. I put in the old one back in, and it goes through the test, and either pops the house 20 amp breaker, or seems fine for a bit then pops it. It can also pop it as soon as I turn it on. I narrowed it down to a 6 wire harness. I leave that unplugged and it will not pop the breaker, and I can play fine forever, but of course feedback does not work. I also can leave that plugged in there, but unplug one in the front motor housing and same result; I can play without feedback. In the test menu I tested the clutch (which locks or unlocks the sitting section from moving), and it once popped the breaker there. But other times I turn it on and off in the menu and nothing. Go to play, and pops the breaker. Furthest I made it was a few laps and it popped the breaker. Any ideas?

Wondering if you could share some of that knowledge. I have dual Daytona USA arcades. I'm having some steering issues with one of them. The one that works perfect, reads 80 when steering wheel is centered. The one that doesn't work correctly kinda will fluctuate but never centers on 80, and occasionally will sit on like 1F or something random. Any ideas will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Love the channel
@LyonsArcade

If it's the original Daytona, there's two potentiometers in there, one runs the forced feedback the other one runs the actual steering, if it can't get to 80 it may just need turned slightly one tooth or so, or you may need to replace that potentiometer, it's pretty common for those to start going bad where certain ranges jump around on the screen in the test mode.
@ADAMREZ

Also, swapped the boards, car 1(working) put into car 2(not working). Still the same thing. So I'm convinced it's not the boards. Maybe the pods on the steering mechanism?

@@LyonsArcade [[[solved]]] It was the bottom potentiometer. Opened the potentiometer itself and bent the two pieces in there to make better contact. After, just needed to center the top and bottom gear by hand with the help of (driver bd test) and (input test) in TEST MODE, and good as new. [Drive BD Test] CENTER IS 80 (bottom potentiometer) [Input test] center, for me, is 8h (top potentiometer) This site really helped shed light on the problem. forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/daytona-steering-pot-question.212028/

Im curious how much it cost for the board repair, from “i-repair sega?” I have a Daytona with a sick video board, that loses polygon textures but otherwise plays fine. Without actual dollar figures, was it reasonable? Cool repair!
@LyonsArcade
5 жыл бұрын
it's fairly expensive but he's the only one who works on them and he does a great job. I was going to mention in the video how much we paid but forgot to. The shipping from NC to Cali was about $30 but when he sent it back it went through the USPS so it was about $50 back (the box needs to be very large to protect it during shipping). He charges I believe $70 an hour or so, something like that, and all in all it was without shipping about $200, the video board was really screwed up so he ended up swapping it with another one. It may have been a little bit less than that but we ended up being in it $250-$275 all said. I've had him repair stuff before that was less expensive, it just kind of depends on how long it takes.
