This is a recording of my first attempt at disassembling, repairing and reassembling a 7s26 movement from a Seiko 5 watch. I have tried to follow good instructions for how to disassemble and reassemble the movement, but many mistakes were made, many corners cut, and you probably shouldn't learn anything from my attempt. This was a purely educational experience.
* The oil I am using in the video is Moebius 9010.
* The tiny Seiko screwdriver is part no. S-921
* For a full exploded view part reference, this Seiko PDF is great: www.seikoservi...
The video was shot with my DSLR, a long focal length lens, and maybe 3 macro extensions. The field of focus isn't always in the best position, but you can mostly see what's going on. I'm really impressed with the camerawork KZitem watchmakers show in their servicing videos.
After the video I kept an eye on the watch to see how the accuracy looks, and it is unfortunately very fast. I'm sure I don't have the tools or the talent to fix a bent hairspring, but I suppose it's nice that I got it working at all. I believe a new balance assembly from China would fix this watch.
Thanks to reddit.com/r/watches for hints and tips on watch servicing, and thanks to Farbrausch's "Fr-08 - The Product - Loader" for music clips and FF6 for the fanfare.
