Nice repair, but I have one small piece of constructive citicism. If you put significant force into that new claw, it's likely to break off because of the way you welded it. Should have ground large bevels on the new piece and the remaining area on the hammer, so you would get good penetration all the way through the part. Butting the two pieces together then welding, even with the small gap I could see, joined the outer surface but left the center still unconnected. If it hasn't broken yet, you might want to consider consider cutting almost all the way through from the outside and re-welding.....that way you know it's completely joined.

why not just buy a new hammer? the time it's taken to repair the old one surely was longer than the time it takes to earn the cost of a new hammer.
