I have just discovered your site. I sailed on a Hood 38, it's a bit like that, made in France by Wauqier. I particularly like your "style". Good videos, your expilation smells of experience (the vinyl depot is a f......b..t.) enough to lose patience, see more... I will follow you..(from France)

I just checked out the photos of Hood 38, didn’t know her before. She is lovely 😊 She does look similar to ours. I am delighted to hear you are enjoying our “style” haha Expilation..We do have a lot of experience in that, prior to buying Squalo we stripped our fixer upper house leaving just the exterior shell and then rebuilt it ourselves over the years. Thank you for following us 🙏☺️

try sailing dauntless, episode 90 and 91. for veneer options. also i used peel off foam for inside hull for sound and temp insulation , ten years in and no problems. cut out condensation problems compleatly , cheap in boat terms too , all the best , tagus IOM

Thank you Neville ;) will check those episodes about veneer. We want to sail in higher latitudes but also here in the UK gets pretty cold in the winter so the insulation will be an excellent addition.

When doing thickened epoxy, mix a good batch of resin and do the prime on the edges as you did here. When you have finished the prime add filler powder to the remains of the mixed resin. Saves having to mix another batch.

Thanks, sometimes there is so much mixing involved that my fingers go numb 😐

Why epoxy on wood and not regular wood filler?

We use epoxy as it provides greater bond, adds stiffness to structure, it also protects the area from moisture. We are painting it with epoxy paint anyway, but extra protection against moisture doesn’t hurt 😉

Why not use a card board for sketches/templates? :)

That’s right, easier to use cardboard or craft paper tbh. But we had loads of that cellophane so we used whatever we had at hand 😀

Precisely :) I am sure we will have people visiting, but ultimately for the most part it will be just the two of us. So no need for so many berths. What we need is storage and some more storage 😊
