Where would you recommend ordering the brake set from? Is there a specific serial or product number?

The description will have the parts for the FRONT brakes (EUR1098), also these are the non-brembo brakes that are usually found on the normal RRS (the supercharged RRS has the brembo brakes).

The SC usually has brembo brakes, so removing the caliper will be different. Overall the procedure will be similar however.

There should only be one sensor for the front and back, you'll need to manually check them to make sure they didn't get worn down from being installed at a slight angle or disconnected from the plug, either situation would cause the light to come on.

Hi! Is the brake sensor on the lr3 a one time use? Do I need to replace it each time I replace the pads?
@HazyJay
2 жыл бұрын
If the brake light comes on, the circuit was rubbed down and broken so the sensor will need replacing. If the light never came on then you might be able to use the sensor again, just look at it and see.

Great VD, ? 4 u.when u r changing the brake pads do u also need 2 replace the rotor 2 even though they r in good condition?
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
If the rotors are in good condition then it's not necessary to replace the rotors with the pads, the new pads will seat with the old rotor's grooves after a few miles.

@@walkingdisaster2475 Heh yeah if you take it to a repair shop they will almost always want you to either change the rotors or have the rotors machined, both options are usually way overpriced. You can buy 4 new rotors for about $300, so there's no reason it should cost >$1,000 for a rotor job IMO.

Really good. I think they are the same as 06 RR HSE. One question... why didn't you use the "brake grease" in the caliper pins? I know some brits use copper grease. You indicated it should be silicon paste... maybe not critical... but curious
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
It's my understanding that silicone paste wont degrade the rubber boot on the caliper pins and it holds up to high heat like with breaking. If you use copper grease it's probably not the end of the world, it will definitely withstand the heat although it may degrade the rubber.

Another great video. One question: are there sensors on both the left and the right sides?
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
No they are on JUST the driver front and back brakes, there aren't any on the passenger side. I guess they assume you'll change both front/rear at the same time and the pads will wear the same 🤔

Why not use slotted rotors or drilled rotors?
@HazyJay
4 жыл бұрын
You certainly can if you'd like, however the perks of those rotors don't really translate to how I use the car. The idea is drilled or slotted rotors cool the rotors faster after significant braking, like slamming on the brakes multiple times at highway speeds (or racing), this just isn't something that I ever do. One-time stopping (emergency braking to avoid an accident) should be the same between normal and drilled/slotted rotors, which is more important for me, and normal city/highway braking should be the same as well.

I have replaced all pads and rotors on my Range Rover sport super charged 2011 twice, but it front rotors still got swirled somehow. Is it because of quality issue since I have been driving with extreme caution for the first 500 miles.
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
Swirled as in warped? As in the wheel vibrates when braking? It sounds like you've been driving cautiously and not excessively braking so it's pretty unusual. I think I've changed my brakes twice in the last 7 years, I always change the rotors when I change the pads.
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
The only thing I can think of is a stuck caliper piston (the 2006 has two pistons per caliper), it's conceivable this would cause irregular pad pressure that could cause jittering or warping.

@@HazyJay thanks for the reply man. My rig is 11’ rrs S/C, it’s been 10 years and it’s my second time replacement. I always replace the entire system with genuine parts ordered directly from Land Rover parts, but this time is done from an indie. The rotors just become warped after few hundred miles with extremely cautious driving and proper wheel lug Torques per user manual. The pad makes a ton of brake dusts, I’m not really what caused it to warp so that steering is shaking a bit during high speed light brake.
@HazyJay
3 жыл бұрын
@@harryj1081 Ohhh if you weren't able specify which pads/rotors were being used and it was an indie shop, they may have just gone with the cheapest option rather than the OEM items. More brake dust than usual is an indication that at the very least, they used different pads than typical. The SC uses brembo calipers and does most of the braking for the vehicle (due to weight shifts while braking and the engine being in the front) so I'm hoping it's just they used cheap pads/rotors rather than a caliper issue. Might need to re-do the job unfortunately.
