Nice video, Thanks for sharing! I find if you take out the front mount bolt before doing the sides, you can lift the engine higher, making the sides even easier.

Definitely not the ultimate guide Ernest, but still a good video to help out.

I worked as a tech at a couple of the biggest Toyota Dealerships in my area. They do make a solid vehicle overall. I had 90s Camrys that had 300k plus and not a drop of oil or leak anywhere. Their new vehicle maintenance plans are rigorous.

I learned the hard way. If your factory mounts aren't bad then keep them, Because aftermarket motor mounts are hard rubber and makes your car shake and vibrate bad. I ended up putting all factory mounts back in that where still good and all the vibration went away.

Why did you take em out to begin with if they weren't bad?

It's simple, it's safe: Disconnect battery negative first because it doesn't matter if your tool touches engine/ chassis ground. Connect battery negative last, again, because it doesn't matter if your tool touches engine/ chassis ground.

I'm curious where you got the mounts. I changed mine on a 09 venza with mounts from autozone and with in a few months three of them cracked and broke the rubber. I had to get new one from a toyota dealer for a better mounts. I talked to a repair shop that works exclusively on toyotas. They said the the toyota motors have so much torque the the after market are not strong enough to handle the torque. Good luck and love your videos. be safe out there.

Ouch, he has an account with AutoZone that carry a lifetime warranty... IDK if that customer supplied his own, but sets on eBay or Amazon are cheaper too (probably not a long warranty) What's the warranty for the OEM Toyota part in comparison? Glad that this Highlander is easy to work on that is way under the book rates so I won't mind swapping it out if they fail again for this vehicle

@@ricebike I'm believe that I had a three year on them, but don't quote me on it. I did compare the the two different mount and you could see the differences in the rubber. The OEMs were thicker and more dense. The ones from AZ were cracked and split. Those only had maybe three months of driving. We are retired and don't drive that much.

So the old ones were cracked/broken? I didn't catch any visual cues on the old ones Or just worn due to age?

You should have recommended lower control arms too. The motor mounts block the last bolt.

That was a FWD vehicle I think. The AWD v6 model can be more complicated.

It’s crazy to me that this was recommended by my mechanic and was charging 1k. Seems like a simple job. Prices are out of control.
