I like how you fast forwarded the part you usually cut. That way we saw the work and still didn't have a lot of down time. I like the videos so it's nice to see the whole job. Great work!

Nice fix Steve. Back when I first started in 2003 I would always forget to dope or teflon that tail piece coming down out of the pop up & into the p-trap. It would leak every time. I learned the hard way.

I've never been a fan of that style pop up mechanism. I find they clog up and collect way too much hair and sludge over the years and them I end up having to clean the drain and install a different pop up. I prefer the click pop up style. I like the the use of the pipe dope I'm gonna do that from now on. Great video.

Steve, this video clearly showed what I did wrong with my pop-up drain installation on my bathroom sink. After doing the job twice, I noticed now days later it still leaks slowly from the threaded part under the sink (between the nut and threads). After some research online and watching this video (5:10-5:20 specifically), I now see the solution. Some other advice I read was to put small amounts of plumbers putty to fill the threads between the rubber gasket and pipe. Will either work? I only want to do this job one more time...

hey Steve, thanks for the video, I couldnt figure out why a brand new sink and drain were leaking right at the nut and gasket. I see you used pipe thread sealant. I'll try that. thanks for making these videos sir! one question though it says not to use plumbers putty on the faux marble. do you know why?
@BrianWiese0

Do you ever replace just the ball and rod assembly on it's own? I have been trying that but the ball tends to leak (not the threads). I'll shop around for some other ball and rod assemblies that may have a better seal - but maybe I have to replace the entire setup for a good seal?

Hi i have a samsung mini split will not cool lower than 27c amb.temp.36c daytime.at night amb.temp 24c will not cool lower than 26c .compressor amp draw 7.5 daytime.is the refrigerant charge determind by amp draw as i think it is a critical charge system.an a/c engineer say's the compressor is faulty.the low side pressure was 80psi on start up and dropped to 65psi after running 15 mins. What are your thoughts on this.thanks. (thailand )
@stevenlavimoniere

andrew rathborn there could be a few problems ,my first one would be did the installer pull a good vacuum on line set,before relecing charge .it hard to tell unless i am there on job checking and looking at stuff .it might be low on charge ,or non combustables in system would be my first bet

Thank you for repling. The a/c unit is 6yrs old and only used for a couple hours a night to cool bedroom it was moved once when we added another bedroom.with the info i gave you ,does the charge rely on the amp reading for compressor which is 7.5 amps as stated on the condenser sticker or could it be charged using temps.and pressures.if it was evacuated down and recharged on pressures/temps would this be ok.both the coils have been cleaned,but seem to have luke warm air coming out of the condenser when running for a while.sorry this is long,thanks for any info you might give.

It's nice how these things always seem to come apart so nicely. If I try to do my own repair, the original part would have been installed by a 900lb gorilla with a 9' long wrench, so that there ain't no way the ^%$ thing is ever coming apart without high explosives..... I'm sure you get your share that are like that too Steve,,,,,
