Gripping around the outside of the impeller is best. Very easy to crack on the nose, but if you have too I recommend plugging the the nose of the impeller to prevent cracking

That happens when the pump is run without water so it may have taken too long to prime up with water. Or maybe it never filled with water. If it just has a little water that can boil in there. Again if that happens it will melt the plastic

@@Marksreviewsandtutorials yes it took about 5 mins to prime up but then run great for about 20 mins then it just pissed out ... i took it back apart and the mechanical seal looked like it was burried into melted plastic 🤦🏼♂️🙈 iv managed to clean it up put another rubber seal in with a little silicone then put the white ceramic ring in .... sbould the mechanical seal on the impeller be bonded on incase it spins on the shaft ?? its pretty tight fit anyway ... thank you for your reply ❤❤

@@spandangle334 Sadly it is doubtful that you can repair it from there without replacing parts. There are tight tolerances on where the seal sits and the pressure between the two parts of the seal and the seal faces have to be flat. It sounds like it ran with just a little bit of water which then overheated due to the friction in the pump melting the plastic. Let me know if you want some pricing on pump parts or a new pump.
