Just move that plug next time you replace one and you won’t have a clearance issue. Those cla-val reliefs can be installed in any direction as long as the direction on flow is right of course.

Looks like they originally made one of the more common mistakes and piped in the packing gland drain lines with the relief drain line😂

I though that the PRV was on top of the pump? isnt that the one that cools down the fire pump while on churn?

On top of the pump is an automatic air vent. That is to remove any trapped air. Not saying you haven’t come across a pump where someone installed the CRV in the wrong location.

@@FireSprinklerTech interesting.. I need to know then because I feel like we are making a big mistake on our current pump install! We only have have the big prv on the cooling loop and one prv (cla val) on the discharge side of the pump.. beside that thing on top of the pump I am 99% sure my foreman didn’t pipe out a crv ?

@Execoo I’m not sure what you are referring to when you say “cooling loop”. The pump you’re installing might have an actual PRV. This would be a large pressure relief valve designed to send the excess pressure back to the intake. However, this would not come out of the top of the pump as you described. This could look like a city bypass. I recommend you read NFPA 20
