They weren't loose from the factory. The vibration going down the road and the expansion and contraction of high loads and heat will loosen them. Either a little bit of blue Loctite on the set screws or just preventative maintenance to make sure the screws stay tight. Even your electrical panel at home needs the breakers checked now and then due to heat and expansion/contraction of the wire in their terminals.

Great video! Good thing you checked it out. The old plug looked like it was in bad shape! Did you disconnect power or anything before getting started?

Thank you and yes, that plug was a definite fire hazard! The power cord has to be removed from the receptacle so yes, I disconnected the power. Thanks for watching!

Not sure if you noticed, the old wiring had the black and red wires swapped from the factory to the plug. 4.05 shows this. Might explain why it was harder to install the new plug.

Great catch! I was so upset by how burnt the plug was that I honestly didn’t notice that.

Nicely done. The only other things I would have done, and this is just my personal opinion, is to put Dielectric grease on the wires before inserting them into the receptacle and to put silicone around the outside when finished. 👍

Both good points, I may add the silicone around the outlet. Thanks for the suggestions!
