In this video I replace the missing aerial grommet on my 1999 BMW Z3 2.8 Roadster E36 5-speed manual in Arctic Silver. These grommets are prone to disintegration/failure from UV/sunlight and are often perished or missing. The aerial/antenna is located in the boot/trunk on the left side and access is facilitated by unbolting the convertible roof motor/pump and moving it aside.
I also investigate the total lack of radio reception/signal at the head unit and carry wiring checks with a multi-meter to test for the live feed at the aerial amplifier, a feed that should be provided from the head unit. I remove the radio (code required on these units) and carried out a repair to the coaxial cable.
