Great video 😎🙏🏼 I have a 20ft Angler center console with a 2006 F150 four stroke and I need to check it myself as well. I was taking it out a few weeks ago and one of the gear sprockets for the timing belt broke out of no where. It shattered and caused the engine to shut off. I bought the new gear sprocket and timing belt, but not sure if it cause any internal damage. I hope not… otherwise I will have more work to do.

Hi sorry just saw this comment if the timing jumped while underway I would say more then likely broke or bent a valve but it may not have if you where lucky I'm not sure the clearance on the Yamaha motors and if it would be ok out of time without hitting a valve

How did you find this to do .. I’m thinking of doing my 140 Suzuki 4 stroke . But it has a timing chain not belt .. ive rebuilt several car motors but would be the first 4 stroke outboard. Reason I’m thinking of doing it is it has 700 hours and previous owners didn’t really flush it well so has lots of deposits and build up so be nice to clean the jackets around the head etc

If your not having any symptoms of a bad head gasket like water in oil water in cylinders overheating etc and are just looking to clean out the water jackets i think idk start with pulling thermostats and flushing motor with pump on recirculating system with vinegar or salt away something of that nature like put a big bucket/ tub under lower fill with water and whatever cleaning substance you decide drop a pump on there and pump wayer into flush port then just use a hose or tube or something to direct the pisser/ tell tale into bucket as well so it recirculates the cleaner through motor for an hour or so I do this regularly with a pump and vinager to descale tankless water heaters as a plumber
