I wonder what your BMW dealer would have charged you to do this job? My guess would be $150 for labor (assuming minimum 1 hour shop time) plus parts. You would have maybe been at over $350 total if they had done it.

Yup, for sure and I am sure they would have found something else wrong.

The funny thing is, I would get some umbrage from the beemer community. There's a sizeable contingent that believe in not doing your own work on them.

@@my.motorrad Interesting. I don't get the angle. Is it that they are expected to support the dealer by spending extra money? When I was a kid I went to the grocery store with my Grandma and I tried to carry her groceries to the car after check out. I told her I was able to carry them to the car with no problem. She said I would be depriving someone of their job. It was some Union mindset but she grew up in the depression so I didn't argue with her.

@@cycletron I think part of it is, if you have the money to buy such a high performance machine, you should pay to have it serviced. Part of it is supporting the local dealers too. The culture in the beemer community is different. Mostly white collar professionals or business people. I am atypical there. I would be almost anywhere though.
