I have been reviewing DIY Videos for years and Jo Daddy, yours is the VERY BEST I have ever seen...clear and concise, well spoken, well presented...Plus you paused while you removed bolts...EXCELLENT Video

Very nicely done. I didn't even see any blue haze from you talking to it like it normally happens when I'm doing these things. Of course I'm not doing them with my children and my grandkids around they don't need to hear that type of encouragement.

You should consider putting a list of tools needed to complete the job in the description. Just a suggestion though, love the video. Saved me a ton of time and money

Great video! I just recommend checking rotor run out on the vehicle before the calipers are reinstalled. I've run into 2 new warped rotors over 10 brake jobs.

Good Video. If you place a large C clamp onto the brake pad and tighten it up a few turns it will compress the caliper and make it a lot easier to remove the caliper assembly, some are tight and hard to pull off. I also do this before replacing it back on the vehicle.

Nice video, and very helpful. But IMHO I would suggest using a torque wrench instead of hitting a dead low hammer to retighten The bolts. Again Thank You for the helpful video.

Great video. A big plus knowing what size wrenches you need for the job, makes the job a lot easier. As if doing the brakes on a Chevy wasn't easy enough. Fords? That's a different story.

I am never a fan of putting the pressure back through the proportioning valve to get back into the master cylinder. I would rather relieve the pressure out the bleeder screw and installing new brake fluid if the level is to low after the job is done and you have run the vehicle and depressed the brake pedal a few times to put all the pads to where they want to sit against the rotors. Great job on the video though.

Not to start some argument here, but the brake fluid looked a bit old to me. Wonder what the boiling point is on that fluid. Anyway as always very informative video, thanks.

Really should clean all the oil residue off of the rotor prior to installation. There is now oil residue under the pads. not good. That will cause premature glazing. Send mama down to harbor freight to get you a 20mm wrench. :)

+Dave Stone If these were the cheaper rotors, they would have oil on them. These however, were oil free and actually vacuum sealed. Really nice. next time I stop by HF, I'll pick one up... :o)

Im almost 100 percent sure those caliper bolts were a 12mm not a 13 ur dam lucky u didnt round the heads off with a 12 point wrench shoulda been a 6 point Also you dont need too unbolt bracket can take hole assembly off replace pads no big deal.
@JoDaddysGarage
4 жыл бұрын
Nope. It was a 13mm. You are correct if you're just replacing the pads. Maybe you didn't notice I replaced the rotors as well.... Bracket has to come off obviously.

I think the 99-02 Chevy had single piston rear calipers 16”wheels 99-02 Cadillac Escalade, z71, Denali had dual piston calipers 17”wheels 03-06 Chevy had dual rear piston calipers but on trucks that had Drum brakes in back they had larger discs and calipers in front. So it’s possible to upgrade your brakes with stock components at a cheap price.
