I have a 2021 Model 3, and it looks like they revised the design. The T20 screw is at the bottom of the filter cap and there is plenty of room to get this done with ease.

Many people use a spray foam on the coil before putting in the new filters. Thoughts?

As an Australian with a Right Hand Drive Model 3, this process is absolute hell. The steering wheel column and pedals are all in the way, you need to remove two covers underneath the dash (front one must come off before the rear one), and then you have the dead pedal in the way under the carpet which cannot be removed due to the litre of glue holding it to the floor. This dead pedal also blocks about a third of the filter door, so you need to rip the old filters out and then mash the new ones into place.

Literally the hardest part is putting the speaker and light back up in there but almost no KZitemr records that part, including this one. There are two sliding pieces that slide out but hard to slide in.

Anyone know where I can buy one of those little white plastic clips that hold on the console side panel?

Great step-by-step Alex. Thanks so much. Done. Complete. A couple of added observations for newcomers: (1) It took me a little time to realize the second panel that comes off (with the wires) is under and behind the glove box; (2) I was able to complete the filter swap without disconnecting the wires to that second panel... just being careful; (3) I only had a T20 driver, but found if I slipped the back end into the gap and then brought the head to the screw there was no problem. Thanks MUCH for this tutorial.

I mean, there are cars that require complete removal of the glovebox assembly to change the cabin filters... So, while it's not great, it could be worse. 🤷♂️

Thanks Alex. Just got done with the replacement (2018, Model 3). I'd like to callout the torx-20 screw you discussed at 2:54 is on the top of the air filter lid itself. Don't undo anything that's not directly on this lid. Also, I should have taken a picture of the routing for the orange wire before undoing the harnesses.

In the 2021 and newer models, the retainer T20 screw for the Air Filter access is now on the bottom (only 1 screw). Thanks for posting these instructions.

I was wondering what happened to the new house. Looking forward to electric house videos. An energy efficient home or business is more comfortable and saves money in the long run. Solar energy on your roof combined with battery storage can make people more independent from the grid and natural gas supplies. Add solar and supplemental electric heating or a heat pump for home or business heating.. All big box stores and manufacturing sites can support solar energy on their roofs or parking lots. Added insulation, triple glaze windows, energy efficient doors, energy efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient appliances, LED lighting, smart thermostats, solar panels combined with battery storage and a electric vehicle charger in the garage or car park. People are too focused on the short term costs and miss out on long term savings and comfort. Blower door testing and air sealing are under appreciated tools.Even if you have money to burn you should not waste it.

Hi Alex! It is awesome to see you again and I look forward to your construction updates. Thank you for the cabin filter installation video. I have a huge problem now that I am way beyond 50 years old. I am nearsighted and I cannot see close either. My eyeglasses are progressive so that I can see up close out of the bottom portion of my glasses. I have changed my cabin filter, but mostly by touch. I am used to doing things myself, mainly to ensure that the job is done properly or even done at all. I will definitely wear a bright light on my forehead to make it a little easier.
