The BMW G310GS had another malfunction, riding it the other day I was like: What's wrong with my clutch? First I thought it might need some WD40 since we live in a dusty area, but on checking, we saw the clutch cable being almost in 2, a serious torn, and almost broken.
This MC was bought in 2021 and has 24.000KM on the dial, and this is the fourth serious issue.
Now where we live there is no BMW service center in miles, the nearest is over 1000KM away. And we could have called roadside assistance since the MC is still under warranty but last time with the 850 MC we had to wait over 3 months before the MC was returned to us.
I had no appetite for that. So we looked for a new clutch cable here in La Paz, BCS, area, but nothing BMW makes the endpoints very specific in the hope you return to the BMW workshop.
We found a Honda 600CC clutch cable on Amazon, that had the correct endpoint to connect it to the gearbox, found an Italika endpoint to connect it to the clutch handle and we set off on an experiment to replace it ourselves.
And of course, we recorded it, to share with you.
MC repairs often ask for a creative solution, In the Philippines, we once repaired the Honda front shock seals with another Honda MC spare part. That video is somewhere in the Filipino MC ride playlist.

ABOUT Jeanette
Jeanette Slagt, aka JC from Holland, Born in 1961 in the Netherland is probably one of the oldest female digital nomads that uses a motorcycle for her travels. Jeanette sold everything at the age of 52 because she became unemployed and decided there is more to life than being endlessly searching for a job and hanging around waiting for life to happen. She turned her life around and became a nomad.
By doing so she changed the perspective on unemployment and retirement.
She traveled through the Philippines (2015-2019) back to Europa (2019) and onwards to Mexico (2019- current) where she and her son Arnan are on this epic motorcycle road trip from Cancun, Quintana Roo to La Paz in Baja California Sur.
