Exterior steps made of brick and other masonry are common for a front entry or porch. Over time the mortar holding the bricks together can degrade, especially in areas of cold climate where a cycle of freezing and thawing can allow water to intrude and then blow apart the bricks as it freezes and expands. In this video I'll repair some front porch steps by repointing between the bricks and parging other areas with a coat of mortar. This can be a DIY job if you take your time and work carefully. Basic hand tools like a sledgehammer and chisel are used, along with an electric grinder fitted with a diamond blade. Watch the whole project start to finish!
